76 Robert .lohnson gives Mustang a lift, long to be remembered. A Hard Fought Battle Wingield 0 Murrah 13 Wllen the No. 1 team in the South met the No. 1 team in the North, sparks were sure to fly and they did. ln a vicious battle, both teams were forced to surrender the ball several times early in the game without a serious threat. Murrah ini- tiated a drive but it was spoiled by a tackle by Tim House which gave the Mustangs a l2-yard loss. Then the Falcons managed a drive and moved the ball to the Murrah 37 by carries mainly by Slay. The drive ended on a Falcon fumble. Several series of downs later, Murrah started a drive which ended in a touchdown for them in the last 12 seconds of the half. The entire third quarter was a defensive battle with neither team penetrating much. In the fourth quarter after a 62-yard punt the Mustangs moved the ball for another 'score to edge the Falcons with a score of 13-0. Even though the Falcons lost, they made Mur- rahis rating drop and their own to rise. Max Holland 1833 and Mike Ferris C421 make a bruising tackle on a Mustang. Falcons Whip Brookhaven 26-O In Homecoming Tilt The Falcons defeated Brookhaven as an excited Homecoming crowd looked on. On Wingfield7s second play Gary Thrash threw a pass to Bo Janos and with three defenders between him and the goal line, he man- aged to get past all of them to score. In the next quar- ter, Janos again scored with a sweep around the right end.
