Mrs. Bradley helps senior students in college choices. Mr. Berry arranges appointments for the benefit of students. Counselors Prove invaluable Despite many other deficiencies, high school students are usually good at one thing at least-they complain often and loudly. Helping these unhappy people is the task of the counselors. They have the responsibility of molding character in preparation for college or work after graduation, and, at the same time, of keeping students interested and involved in school activities. This complex job, which calls for wisdom and dedication of the highest caliber, has been performed admirably this year through the cooperation of our fine counselors and student body. English Recalls Cultural Heritage The goal of any English Department is to instill in students a proper appreciation of their own language and cultural heritage. The variety of con- tent in English courses during the high school years is very important in developing character among young adults. Along with the usual grammar study provided for students, sophomores engage in an in- troduction to various types of literature while ,lun- iors devote their time to American literature and authors. Shakespeare and other English authors are studied by Seniors. The teachers at Wingfield do an excellent job of introducing young people to literature and gram- mar and in maintaining their interest throughout a course. With sincere aims of encouraging a sense of in- dividual learning in students, all three courses pro- vide excellent background for college-hound students. S.
