61444 yfzifdty Our present senior class began their kindergarten year in i942 under the patient guidance of Miss Kathleen Kossack. Thirteen of the twenty-two members were present. They were as follows: Ronnie Davis, Sharon Ibbotson, Max Kongable, Betty Jean Lee, Sharon Anderson, Leland Long, Nancy Mason, Eugene NL-eeker, Larry Owens, Randall Rickey, leon Rossiter, Sandra Swarts and Eleanor Mar- shall. In addition we had: Carol Aspelmier, Sally Bellamy, Nancy Edgar, Bennie Fred, Iris Ireland, David Linberg, Dickey Phillips, Larry Piper, and Kathryn Singheim. Dickey Philips, Nancy Edgar, Leland Long, Max Kongable, and Larry Piper left in the first grade. We gained Larry Smith, Wilma West, Barbara Burge, Duane Hill, and Robert VVidmer. Our instructor was Miss Helen Blair. ln the second grade, Eleanor Marshall, Richard Dickinson, Kathryn Singsheim, Wilma West, and Barbara Burge left, and Betty Freeman, Leland Long, and Dale Keeler ioinecl us. We were under the supervision of Miss Betty McLandsborough. Miss Elmo Young carried us through the third grade. Dale Keeler, Duane Hill, and Ldrry Smith left usp Adam Ireland, Roger Kissinger, Dean Lake, Orville Palister, and Kathleen Reynolds enrolled, increasing our number by two. We were very happy to have Miss Adeline Humphreys for our fourth grade teacher. She was an inspiration to all of us. During that year we gained Larry Smith, Elaine Evans, Gary Hart, and Saundra Githens. We lost Sally Bellamy, Adam and Iris Ireland, and Betty Freeman. Miss Etta Nhe Lantz was our fifth grade teacher. Kathleen Reynolds and Gary Hart left. DaWanna Crabtree, Adam and Iris Ireland, Eleanor Nlarshall, Anna Nlae Schlieper, and Tony Geisler became members of our class. Adam and Iris left again in the sixth grade and Wilda Lynn Allen and John Crabill came to Winfield. Miss Thelma B. Hunter was our teacher. Coming closer to high school, we advanced through the seventh grade under the guidance of Nts. Bernice Allen. Ne really learned our English that year, even if it doesn 't sound like it at timesl Saundra Githens and Bennie Fred moved that year. Mr. Herbert Von Arx gave us our coveted eighth grade diplomas. Iris and Adam were back, plus Donna Humphreys and Max Kongable. DaWanna Crabtree and John Crabill left at the end of the year. fhe arrival of Bob Erickson increased our enrollment during our freshman year, but we were de- creased by five the following year. Those leaving us were: lhvid Lindberg, Iris and Adam Ireland, Donna Humphreys and Larry Smith. Stanley .bnnings and Roger Hadler ioined us our iunior year. The last addition to our class was Don Murphy, who spent the first semester with us, but returned to Washington for the last semester. J. D. Lonsdale left Winfield High to spend his last year of high school training in a military school. The class was sorry to have J. D. leave as he was one of the original beginners of the class of '55.
