Pat Hoover, Eleanor All,1rig'ht, Margaret Buss, Betty Boyer,Gordon Hillhouse, Fred Conner, Keith Bail-ay, Norna Rourds, and Jack Ielonnold. Clarence Brannum, Marty Side- ner, Joe Krafels, Jim Shipp, Joe Thornton. Kenneth Furlow, Gene M1-rphis, Wayne Finney, Bill Hus- sell, Keith Bailey, Bill King, and Jim Barnthouse made up the basket- ball team. With Dick Hoover, Ty Powers, Keith Bailey, and Garland Prater composing boys' team, and with Le- ota Oliver, Wanda Shirley, Jerry Parker, and Hope Cheesman on gil ls' team, Die Bestes tied for first place with the Alphas in tennis hon- ors. The Die Beste Hoedown was held May 4 at Island park. Die Bestes going out for track are Joe Thornton, Kenneth Furlow, Homer Higdon: forensics, Wanda Land: golf, Clarence Bran- num,Ma1'tin Sidener,Jim Thompson, music, Bob Logsdon, Hope Chees- inan, Don Faust, Eleanor Albright, Keith Bailey, Don Hudson, Heihf rt Hawk Jr,, Wanda Stiner, and Dorothy Merriam. F In Don't Take My Penny, the annual Alpha play, Ed Day and Lucien Barbour exhibited marked talent as impersonatorsg Emily Bernstorf, M a r g a r e t Chapman, Dale Minear, Stanley Jenkins, and Aaron Johnson demonstrated their ability in character parts: Marilyn McAlister, George Smith, Phyllis Harris, Barbara King, Frances Rus- sell and James Garrison showed their skill in straight roles, and Bernadine Davis, Evelyn Wade, Evelyn Harris and Warren Orahood revealed their competency in por- traying minor characters. The Spring Track Meet, an hi- larious affair of cheers, races, and eats, was run off under the super- vision of president, Bill Thornton: vice-president, Gale Stoutg secretary, Evelyn Wade, and the following committee members: Larman John- son, Gene Porter, Pat Graham, Lu- cien Barbour, Ed Day, George Smith, Butch Mitschler, Aaron Johnson, Ann Sidener, Jane Gary.
