Ucle to the Central School Old Central Schooll Our High School fair, That stands so silent here: No foot to tread upon thy stair, No voice thy class rooms cheer: No song, arising in the hall, Resound from one dark wall to wall: No laughter startle Echo's sleep, No students, whom thou long hast seen, Spend study hours on campus green, Reluctant to thy shadows creep. When next that old familiar bell, ln mighty accents clear, Proclaims afar the assembling hour On the morning atmosphere, 'Twill ring for those it has known, in vain - Only in thought will they come again - Their days at Central School are o'er. All must bid it a last adieu- Farewell to the old -welcome the new-- But the old shall know them no more. Adieu, oh, then, a last adieul Thy walls shall ever seem our own: For Retrospection's rosy hue Dispels the chill of stone. And in those far off future days, When pleasure Hies and sorrow stays, Thought of thee, like a last refrain, Will lure us gently from our grief And grant to us a sweet relief To give us heart again. HAZEL STAGGERS Last Chronicle of the Class of 'IO Know ye all people by these signs, that from the unfathomable depths of our experience hath this knowledge proceeded. Read and know the truth. For verily we say unto you that we believe in those things which are past: not that our eyes be turned backward, Worshipful-wise, but that from what hath been, knowledge may come to us. Yet we say unto you that we believe more steadfastly in those things which are not yet come to pass, knowing that a mighty school hath been established wherein our fellows may advance still further than we in their search for knowledge. And we rejoice in the greater High School which fortune hath vouchsafed them. Moreover, lcnow ye, thatthe highest individual development is his who forgeteth self in seeking to exalt the whole: even so is that class greatest which hath shown that love of school is mightier than loyalty to class, and no loyalty is worthy which worketh harm to the whole. Ergo, let our faith be published in these words: The Past, the Present and UNITY.
