WMDWARDWN The 8th annual Bike - a - thon was the most successful yet. We raised $17,CXX) in pledges, a new record! This year the route was ditlerent, through the beautiful Moiave desert. For the first time we went m the fall instead of the spring, covering 100 miles m two days rather than three. Another difference was that this year there were prizes given for pledges. The prizes were: $500.00 in pledges-entry fee refunded $1000.00 in pledges-watch or calculator $2500.00 in pledges- bicycle $5000.00 in pledges-$500.00 in cash $10,000 in pledges-one years free tuition There were 79 participants including faculty and parents. A special thanks to Paul Bush, Sanford King, Pat Mcloy, John Elam, Connie Weiss, Lester Saft, Loren Woodsen, Robert Shapiro, Dean Wong and Lorrin Wong who all rode the route. Paul Bush is to be CONGRATULATED for riding in his third Bike-a-thon. Gary Katz now holds the Bike-a-thon record of five years in a row. Also, we can ' t forget to mention the people who prepared the food, carted up all the food cooked for us and even cleaned up.
