Biggest Stage Band Monday. Wednesday and alternate Friday mornings at 7: I5 the sounds coming from the band room are of the stage band. Under the direction of Mr. Ed Ranum, they play jazz and rock tunes by well known artists. This year the nineteen members have been working on improvisational souls. They played at all the regu- lar band concerts and the band variety show. Uwmnsngq, I 1 The jazz band practices hard for an upcoming concert. Pat Martinez played in Neptune this year. There were many different acts in the band variety show. Sophomore girls dance in the Variety show. On keyboards for Neptune was Trilby Huntzinger,

Band Visits Calgary This year the band was very active after its big trip to Calgary in July. They marched at halftime shows and participated in three parades including Band Days where they received their ll th straight superior rat- ing. The band held three concerts this year including a Red's White and Blue Concert featuring patriotic songs. The winner of the John Phillip Sousa award this year was Jim Yost, who is the first drummer ever to receive the award. This year's band ofHcers were President, Steve Hettinger: Vice-President, Loren Martin, Secretary, Suzanne Margheim: and Treasurer, Brian Whitney. SSA Has Many Guys C The Select Choir had more guys this year than any year before. This year there was a combination of freshmen. sophomores, juniors, and seniors. They had many different performances including the DAR Con- vention, and the Chamber of Commerce Dinner. The girls wore dresses that bloused at the top and were made out ofa lavender print.
