Wrestlers Place Second At WHS Invitational Placing second at the Windsor Invitational was the highlight of the wrestling team's season. The wrestling team's main goal this season was constant improvement from one match to the next. Coach Para feels the team did as well as could be expected. He said that the team was physically ready for Districts , but they could have done better if they would have been mentally ready. Coach Para cited Ray Miller as the most improved wrestler, and Gabe Lopez for having the best season. Nezct year's goal will be improve- ment and consistency because the team will still be young and inexperienced. Girls' Track Finishes 2nd In State I never expected anything like this , were the words of a very excited girls' track coach at the end of her final season at WHS. Outstanding performances were turned in by the team's four seniors, Val Ugh! And double ugh! seems to be the appropriate phrase for high jumper Paula Hergert. With a firm grip on the baton, Robin Cantrell shows the agony of a long race . Hodges, Cheri Provancha, and two state qualifiers , Janet Winter and Paula Her- gert. Junior Michelle Kruger also had an outstanding season, setting a new state long jump record of l8'3W'. Six other school records fell as well as the addition of two new events the 330 yd. hurdles and the 2-mile run. l was thrilled, Coach Patty Mehl ex- claimed. How else do you describe it? Karen Deidrick hands off the baton to Tammy Bux mann in the 880 yd. medley. ' 'Catch, Coach Mehl! ' ' janet Winter seems to be saying.
