From all parts of the Windsor Empire came young recruits headed for the camp of Windsor High School. Samuel Crockett was Commanding General of the Camp and each recruit was assigned to his company. Our first year of training began in 1955. Our advisors for the year were Mr. DePianta and Mrs. Wehner. The leaders that we elected to head our legions were Francis McDermott, president, Gail Man- solillo, vice-presidentg Barbara Ostendorf, secretary, and Neal Cunning- ham, treasurer. We elected three people, skilled and well trained, to represent us on the Student'Council. They were Francis McDermott, jack Liner, and Raymond Gaylord, During our training some of the boys went out for sports. Neal Cunningham and Ewald Yekel represented us in soccer, while Richard Holmes, jack Liner, jack Shannon, and Raymond Gaylord represented us in basketball. Our baseball team included Francis Mc- Dermott, William Stewart, Richard Holmes, Raymond Gaylord, jack Shannon, and Neal Cunningham. Our training was arduous. Those who achieved excellent grades throughout the year were Paul Allaire, Stanley Biercz, Judith Conner, Virginia Danner, Alexander Gegesky, Frances LaFleur, and Diane Russell. After our first year we were granted a brief furlough until September. On September 4, 1956, we began our second year of training. Everyone worked hard, but the most outstanding people were Stanley Biercz, Virginia Danner, George Johnson, Frances LaFleur, Diane Russell, and Sharon Woble. Although we studied, we also had time for fun. On November 11, 1956, some of the more hep students headed for the Sock Hop and displayed their sharpest footwear, On April 19, 1957, the Girls' Physical Education Department held a Panorama. Some of the Sopho- more girls gathered in the gymnasium to show their athletic abilities. Throughout the year the boys also gathered in the fields and on the court to show their abilities in Soccer, Baseball and Basketball. Mr. DePianta and Mrs. Wehner were our advisors. Our officers were Francis McDermott, president, Frances LaFleur, vice-president, Barbara Ostendorf, -secretaryg and Judith Zalenski, treasurer. The Stu- dent Council members included Jack Liner and Francis McDermott. Our junior year commenced with the election of Frances LaFleur as president, Gail Mansolillo, vice-president, Joan Mosher, secretary, and Judith Zalenski, treasurer. Our advisors were Mr. DePianta and Mrs. Krahmer. Newly-elected members to the Student Council were Frances La- Fleur and Maureen Murphy, Some of our class-mates were chosen as members of the Student Patrol. Among these are Carl Bentley, Norma Emond, Anna May Kove, Frances LaFleur, Gail Mansolillo, Francis McDermott, Maureen Murphy, Barbara Ostendorf, and Judith Zalenski. On November 25, 1958, Virginia Danner, George Johnson, Anna May Kove, Frances LaFleur, Diane Russell, Sharon Woble, and Jeffrey Thomas were inducted into the National Honor Society. Those who made the Honor Roll all four terms were Richard Crockett, Virginia Danner, Carole Hish, George Johnson, Anna May Kove, and Diane Russell. Because of his excellent record in his earlier years, George Johnson received the Harvard Book Award. After our arduous training, we laid aside our daily toils and attended the Junior-Senior Prom, SPRING MELODY. On June 20, 1958 we departed for a vacation, knowing full well that our final year of high school was drawing near. The Seniors' year of fulfillment Hnally arrived. For the last time they entered the hallowed halls of Windsor High School. Our advisors were Mr. DePianta and Mrs. Krahmer. The class was led by Carl Bent- ley, president, Norma Emond, vice-president, Patricia Pugliese, secre- tary, and Allen Durgin, treasurer. The Student Council members were Ray Gaylord, president, Carl Bentley, vice-president, and Judith Zalen- ski, secretary. Dribbling their way through the basketball season were Co- captains Richard Holmes and Jack Liner, Allen Durgin, Raymond Gay- lord, jack Shannon, and Neal Cunningham. The team was cheered on to the tournament by those cute cheerleaders: Captain Betty Crocker, Co-captain joan Loomis, Cynthia Hotchkiss, Gail Monsolillo, and Joan Mosher. The DAR Good Citizenship Award was awarded to Frances LaFleur. A Christmas Program was held in December just before the winter vacation.
