As I think 'of The Winchendon School Class of 2010 and our year, I canlt help to look back to that wintery night when we were treated to a special evening of fireworks to celebrate Winter Carnival and the Lunar Year. You have each sparkled in different ways, brightening our sky in brilliant flashes, and together you have been a wonderful show. From that first evening in September when we watched the Gods Must Be Crazy together and welcomed the new students, to another successful Mountain Day, the Halloween Dance Party,,to those of you who made the Clonglj joumey to see Macbeth, you have set the tone for a memorable year. You have also made a difference, as you led us in our fund raising endeavors for Haiti, reached out to help in the town of Winchendon, helped your peers with their studies, and grappled with community issues. There were also a number of 'firsts', at least in recent Winchendon history. There were fun 'firsts' like the Dinner Dance at the Legion, and serious 'firsts' like the trip to see Macbeth or the morning with Ambassador Stith. Perhaps most importantly, the Class of 2010 was the pioneering class helping us pilot our way through first legs of the Global Dynamics journey. And many ofgyoii have traveled thousands of miles on your own journeys, p pp whether thejtrip with friends up Mt. Monadnock, a first summit fer' some of you, the Thanksgiving adventure to Washington DC, the expeditions to Europe and Africa, or trips to many other places in smaller groups. For mostitevery one of you, there have been symbolic journeys as you have traveled the sometimes treacherous path through the Winchendon curriculum, conferences and study halls to be disciplined students. Everyone of you have showed moments of vulnerability along the way, which is okay, but you have also showed us that you are ready to move on, ready to thrive at your college or university. Where as tests or papers, speeches or presentations might have seemed daunting only months ago, you should now move forward with deserved confidence. But remember while you will burn brightly on the next legs of your journeys, to those of us who have to stay behind you are like fireworks. We can't wait to see you again. Brighten ours and each other's skies once in a while. Donit let us sit in the dark wondering where you are! Best wishes family to the Class of 2010 from your Winchendon School.
