HI . vig, 1 J , qi u X A , The Winchendon School Board of Trustees During the past year great emphasis has been placed upon strengthening our school, to withstand the pressure of our times, and to gird for the future. Late this past summer, before the opening of the fall term the Board of Trustees was most fortmmate in securing the services of Mr. Lewis V. Posich as our Head- master. He has a sincere interest in students and in helping them attain their greatest potenijal. He has a warm personality, an awareness of student prob- lems, and a keen interest in school management. While still retaining the original concept under which the school was founded, of helping the student with good ability who, for whatever reason, had not at- tained his potential, environment and living conditions have been brought more in tune with today's conditions. Our Board of Trustees has been reconstituted and greatly strengthened during the past year. A total of eleven new Trustees have accepted nomination and have been elected to the Board, bringing our total Board membership to seven- teen. New members include six parents of present Winchendon students as well f ll ll T as four of our own Winchendon School alumni. Thus we have retained the stability o the old guard rustees, while bringing in the interest of current Winchendon School families, as well as a concern from the students' point of view. I feel that we are most fortunate in having the great dedication of these our Board Members to serve and partici- pate in the management of The Winchendon School. With this kind of interest and participation, the future holds great promise for Winchendon and we cannot help but to move toward a greater school in the years ahead. W Wmffi John J. M. fRutgers Universityjg B.S. fUniversity of Marylandjg German, Art. 54 ? To the Class of 1974: More and more this year I have come to liken what we--you and your teachers--have been creating as a bridge which stretches from yesterday to tomorrow, from dream to reality. The bridge is not completed, but the framework is up and your class has made the first tentative crossing. It has been exciting work, on occasion frustrating, more often satisfying, and we frequently have stumbled. But together we built it! Now it is up to others to continue the Work, and we, your teachers, turn back to help them. You will go on to the broad- ening vistas stretching before you. You go forth with an obli- gation-to return again and again to ensure that the work you began goes on and that your bridge grows even stronger, ever more capable of easing the crossing of those who follow you. We who stay behind will expect to see you often because with each of you goes a little bit of ourselves. Good fortune and Godspeed! LEWIS V.
