T 1 754 HEADMASTER'S MESSAGE Even before one word was written for this issue of Vestigia, before one picture was taken, the staff decided to use as the theme of the book The New Decade . Because we have actually started our second ten years in Winchendon, it seemed, on the surface, the appropriate theme. But the boys had much more in mind than the mere start of a period of time. They were looking ahead with optimism, with confidence, with courage, with faith to the school's progress and for that of the boys in this school. They see the school continuing to serve the students in the same personal, intimate, concerned ways which make this school unique itodayl in private secondary school education. Despite the rumblings in the background about the discipline imposed upon them in all areas of their experience here, they know and they appreciate tif not now, laterj its importance and its long-run benefits. In material ways they envision a campus worthy of and befitting a school whose quality and tone put it ir1 a class by itself. They expect upon their return as alumni to see the new rink, gym, arts and crafts buildings, additional fields, and whatever else will make the school's operation that much more effective. In short, The New Decade, to them, means a looking ahead to great things for the school and for those whom it serves. R. ROBERT MARR HEADMASTER 7? Wfffitaaa, A. B. QWILLIAMSD 4 'af' EDWARD J. This isn't really a crossword puzzle, because the only words across tell you what Ford Motor Company does, and weive filled that in for you already. But, reading down. numbers one through fifteen are names of cars we build. When you figure them out youill see that Ford Motor Company does offer an across-the-board selection of all kinds of cars, from subcompact. to personal sporty cars. to luxury cars. Here are your clues: 1. This car was 50 years old in 1971-two words, and keep right on going around the corner and across the bottom. The luxury Mark IV is a step up from this one. 2. Lincoln-Mercury's Sexy European import. 3. Sales records were broken when this car was introduced in 1964. It's in Ford Division's corral 4. This might be a puzzler. It's low, rakish, a body-by-Ghia, and imported for Lincoln- Mercury. It's only 43 inches high. 5. 6. 7. All begin with M and all are built by Lincoln-Mercury. 8. This one started it all, and still stands by itself Cwhere we have placed it in this puzzlel. 9. Nota car, not a truck, but this Ford Division product is an excellent, all-around type vehicle 10. Halley's big one was around long before our small one. Lincoln-Mercury builds it. 11. A Ford Division intermediate product with an Italian flavor name. 12. Ford Division built this one to compete with the European imports. 13. A loner, but not in popularity. Ford Division builds it. 14. This Cat is a purrfect personal sports car. 15. We almost ran out of room, but everyone shortens the name of this car anyway. A luxurious personal car. flfj If you get stuck and can't figure out all the names, we'll iielp you out. Just write to Ford Motor Company Listens, The American Road, Dearborn, Michigan 48121, and we'll do whatever we can to assist you. In fact. write us about anything that's on your mind.
