Bob Vernstrom learned to use gestures in Miss Kingsbury explained the fundamentals o demonstration speech. speaking to Claudia Janes. 24 f Gentle Arts Prove Effective Enthusiasm and nervousness radiated from students appearing on two kinds of stages -the stage of reality and the stage of illusion. Both groups worked equally hard to master the gentle arts of persuasion and emotion, both groups experienced exceptional success. Reality-learning, through speech, the power of communication so vital in obtain- ing jobs or dealing with other people. Illusion-dramatic mysticism or sophistica- tion, a world of dreamy or daring fantasy, allowing people to quit thinking of them- selves while relaxing in the comfort of a stranger's problems or ioys. Two groups, two stages, two worlds. The same gentle means to accomplish two dilterent ends: adiustment or escape in life.
