You can be naive and you can be literary, or conven- tional, or sincere, or soft and wistful, or sharp and clever Cand perhaps that is the saiestl: you can expound upon the soul or upon the hockey games. And it is absolutely immaterial be- cause aiter all no one expects you to have said anything, and all ot the tender and brilliant nothings seem to have been said before. So this will be a silver new nothing . . . the tintoil Wrapping from a candy bar, a phrase ot con- versation, a brief comet talling into the night, a moment ot high joy or quick sorrow, a shout oi comradeship through the sunlight, all of the daily Woes and satisfactions cherished in the palm ot the hand.
