They arrived in Fargo, North Dakota where four-hundred and thirty-two boys of the state gathered to hold a small scale state legislature. Soon after they arrived, they were divided into cities by the officials of Boys State. The schedule of activities was directed by a staff of forty men. The week's activities included participation in the many phases of governmental work. Some of these were the nomination of electorial bodies, competition for county offices between the Federalists and Nationalists, and setting up party platforms. As a part of the governmental program, the Staters were shown how the different offices functioned if they were to actually govern North Dakota As a final touch to their governmental study they elected a governor who presided over the miniature state of North Dakota On Sunday the sessions closed and a tired but better informed group of boys arrived home 8 BOOKSTORE COMMITTEE ROW 1: Vivian Gibbins, Karen Smith, Karen Stevens, Yvonne Gauthier. SENIOR CLASS HISTORY September 8, 19520 What do you see? All 148 of us shyly seating ourselves in the auditorium seats-- yes, we were first -class Green Freshman . This year we elected Jim Moline, president, Marilyn Hicks, vice president, Carol Hilling, secretary, Marliss Hicks, treasurer, and Pete Reed, sgt. at arms. September 8, 1954- Here,we are already Juniors. Changes this year were hour periods instead of45 minute ones and no activity period. We had our first class play, State Fair . We took first prize with our homecoming float. The big highlight was our junior and senior banquet and prom. The theme was Blue Mirage . The water tower was repainted in the flying, loyal colors of Orange and Black. Officers were Milnor Sandry, president, Marilyn Hicks, vice president, Marilyn Booke, secretary, Don Hudson, treasurer, Roger Breezeley, sgt. at arms. September 8, l955-- This starts our last and final year in W.H.S. We are looking forward to caps and gowns, class night, and commencement. October 14, Homecoming,--prettiest Royal Court, Queen's Ball, our float takes first prize for the 4th consecutive year. The sophomore float featured a big football with hands of victory. In the junior year, it was a giant skunk with the slogan We'll Skunk 'Um . Claire Ann Kinstler, Pete Peterson and Loren Hagen all deserve a special word of thanks for their leadership in constructing these floats. l 'cf I ROYAL COURT ----- cscort - Norman Jclluni, attendant - Karon Kline, escort - Alilnor Statuary, attcrzuaint - Xian Nlorrow,co-captain - Bob Jacobs, escort - Mitchell Owan, Quccn - Carol Hilling, page - john Albers, co-captain - lioral Haugen, escort - Robert Reed, attendant - Betty lo Arnegaru, cscort - Robcrt Crook. attcndaiit - Kill'Cll5lCYCI1S if Y Qt t l JUNIOR CLASS FLOAT SOPHOMORE CLASS FLOAT Q HHN fi HOMECOMING CHAIRIJEIXJ - fslilnorSandry, Lo- ren Hagen, Marilyn Hicks, Donald Hudson, Rita Kay Abel, Vivian Hcffelfingcr, Karen Stevens, Carole Farrob, Gladys Srannard, Kay Skavanger, Judy Carlson, Roberta Wilkinson.
