Jake Jones, 8Th grader, said, l'The Team consisTed of a loT of good wresTlers. We all improved our wresTling skills. The QTh grade wresTling Team had a greaT year showing Thein experTise wiTh an even season. DusTin Coombs was undefeaTed Through The whole season. Jack Ancone and Joel Prelog also had an excellenT season. He said ThaT The lack of individuals made iT hard To ever geT any real Team uniTy esTablished. In mosT of The meeTs There were noT enough boys or girls running To counT in The Team scoring. Freshman Vicky Thrasher did do well in The meeTs she ran, Coach Wilkins said. She spenT much of The season running for Chandler High. Tennis was anoTher one of The fall sporTs aT Willis This year. KaThi Derbyshire said, I love Tennis, and Mrs. Collins made iT more fun. The girls Tennis Team did a good job This year wiTh a record of 2-42. The schools They beaT were Corona del Sol C5-Aj and Chandler Junior C4-25. Shana Eng- land said, 'TThe Team became a real Team as The season pro- gressed, and Mrs. Collins was a greaT coach. The boys Tennis Team also did well wiTh a record of 4-8. The Teams The Firebirds beaT were Tempe C6-35, Shepherd C8-IJ, Powell C7-25, and Chandler Junior C5-Ap. Tim Mackey said, Mr, Gon- zales was a good coach. Tim is now playing on The VarsiTy Tennis Team aT Chandler High.
