66 he Vica Club is designed for students in the Trade and Industrial Vocational Areas. At WHS the VICA Club members are students involved in Cosmetology, T.V. Communications, Electronics Products Servicing, Carpentry, Elec- tricity, HeatingfAir-Conditioning, Plumbing, and C.l.E. tCooperative Industrial Educationl. The VICA Club provides personal development, lead- ership opportunities, recognition, competitive pro- grams, and achievement programs for the stu- dents. The Z-Club is a service organization for young women. lt's motto is 'tGrowth through Service, and its goals are service to the school and community. Among the Z-Clubfs many activities this year were ushering at Back to School Night in October and organizing Teacher Appreciation Day and an egg hunt for faculty children. Z' Club members also provided the flowers for Homecoming and prepared food for the Homecoming Dance. The Club's community service included working at the Burling- ton County Special Services Schools at Halloween and distributing food baskets to needy families at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Carols were sung at a Mt. Holly Nursing Home and entertainment provided at the Tender Home for the elderly. Z-Clubbers raised money through a Carnation sale for the Ameri- can Heart Association and participated in a Walk-A-Thon for the March of Dimes. Many members have earned money for the club by working at Great Adventure. The Z-Club won the Franklin Award for outstanding service to the March of Dimes this year for continued service to their cause. Under the direction of Mrs. Soderstrom, the Z-Club has proven to be an active, caring, and socially aware group of young women. Officers for the 1988 school year are: President, Nancy Lewis, Vice-President, Donna Cain, Secretary, Kathy Gordon, Trea- surer, Mary AJO Kinsey, and Historian, Niko Phillips.
