STUDENTS SPEND SUMMER IN DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS 't l'AlL 0F INDIANA While you were getting a tan at the beach or the pool, two Williamstown High School seniors, Andy Hall and Marlana Hefner, spent their summer in competition for the Star of Indiana Drum and Bugle Corps. Over 900 people, ages 14-21 auditioned, and only 128 made the final cut. Certain special requirements were needed before audi- tioning, such as, knowing how to play a brass instrument, percussion, or performing auxiliary guardwork. The corps traveled over 14,000 miles last summer and averaged 12 hours of practice a day. Their black and magenta uniforms with a giant white star on the chest clearly depicted their rising name The 'Star' of Indiana. Both Andy and Marlana said that they made many friends and that their hard work paid off when Star made it into the Drum Corps. Internationl KDCD finals. Auditions for 1987's Corps have already begun. Not only are Andy fpercussionj and Marlana fmelophoneb at- tending the camps, but this year Giesala Collins is trying out for Stars auxiliary. Another way students at WHS are making their lives count! 82 SENIORITY ...l ill U 'Stars' of Indiana.
