BAND WINS BIG TIME The Pride had quite a year, the best in its history. At the start, it looked to be a rough year as absences clouded the practice scene. Members survived the agony that is band camp only to return to practice in Williamstown with only half of its members. Absences were due to vacations, seminars, etc. and daily tallies ran as high as 30 missing from practice. Traveling to Sistersville for the Oil and Gas Festival, the first competition, manyewere worried about perfor- mance results. However, worries were dissolved as the awards were announced - the Pride was named Grand Champion band, defeating longtime rival Paden City. Other awards won at Sistersville include: Best overall Field Commander, Giesala Collins, Best overall Percus- sion, Third place flag corps, best overall parade band, and best musical band.
