Administration Individual preparation for effective service to our country has been the main consideration in the adaptation of our program this year. The global war has stepped-up and given an urgency to such preparation as never before. The high schools of our nation are dedicated to such ser- vice and to that end the mobilization and active conservation of our resources will continue until victory is won. Our school is one of that com- pally. 1 Boys and girls everywhere in our nation are making effective contributions through organ- ized and continuing salvage and war bond cam- paigns, realizing that such eiiort is a patriotic privilege. Already graduates of last year are participating in the larger eiiort of active service on land. sea and in the air. Within a short time L. F. DERR Principal A. M. XVEAVER Superintendent of Schools the members of the Class of 1944 will be actively engaged in the iight for justice, freedom and the preservation of our democratic institutions. All of us, wherever or however we may be called upon to serve, must dedicate ourselves to our responsibilities as good Americans. This dedication as good citizens should not be ter- minated with the war but must be enduring if we are to organize and maintain a better world. As you go forth to these greater responsi- bilities, our best wishes and our continued in- terest go with you. Good luck, Class of 1944! . 5? 12

The School Board Speaks The Board of School Directors of the School District of the City of NVilliamsport extends its sincere congratulations and best wishes to the class of l9Ll4l upon the satis- factory completion of the courses prescribed for graduation from the lvilliamsport Senior High School. Many and difhcult problems lie ahead to the solution of which you will be asked to make your contribution. First and foremost, there is a war to he won. To the winning of the war, whether you serve on land, sea. in the air. or on the home front, we are confident that you will give loyal and devoted service to your country. The war and planning for the peace have thrust upon you such problems as these: What kind of political order do we want? How can we prevent a recurrence of war? How can controls for maladjustments in the world's social and economic life be established? Your training ill the processes of thinking, your knowledge of American history and government, your participation in the democratic way of life in a school demo- cratically conducted, will help you to find a right solution for these problems and aid you in making the transition back to peace. Finally, we would recall for your inspiration and guidance these words of Holy Writ: HSeest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kingsg he shall not stand before mean menfi THE hVIl.LlAlNlSP0ltT Scnool.
