Sc The Class Hlstory ELIZABETH SHEPHERD Hzstorzan yf1fr.55g N the morning of September 7 1917 four hundred eighteen happy chil 4 'Br dren in pmafores and kmckerbockers entered fo the Hrst time the mi Williamsport High School 637 We the Class of l92l were those children We had an air of ex cited expectancy and were filled with a sense of great importance but soon came to realize our msigmficance when we were placed upon those retiring seats of' the balconv As a mark of' distinction green was placed upon our pe son ages Throughout the nine months of that first year there were happy days for all Our Hallowe en party given by the parents and teachers was an event never to be forgotten bv any of us Everybody came arrayed in pretty unique and g otesque costumes Then there was a great bustle as we formed in line for the grand march and the prizes were awarded to the wearers of the most attractlye costumes When Sophomores our boys won for us the cup in the Freshmen and Sophomore track meet The chief social event of this year was the party We were entertained bv a mock wedding in the gymnasium and then there was fun dancing and eating As juniors we were allowed to organize and Louis Schuster had the honor of being our Class President Our rings were designed by one of' our classmates and we selected for our class colors the glorious garnet and gold We began our work this year more seriously We had by this time acquired a slight degree of dignity and self reliance We learned to look upon problems with a certain feeling of mastery and to contemplate obstacles in the hope and determination of subjecting them in the Welcome Home Parade and were awarded ou second cup for excellent ap pearance W ere we proudg What a foolish question Our junior Party was a great success An Easy Mark a play presented for our amusement was the first real showing of the remarkable theatrical ability prey alent in our class For two years we had been looking forward with great anti cipation to the crowning ey ent of the year our junior Prom lt far surpassed ou evpectations The gy mnaslum yyas transfigured by the Garnet and Gold and until ll 30 yye 'ill had a delightful time Sey eral weeks later yye were entertained by thc Seniors at their Prom yyhich yyas held at the Community House That ended our junior year and this ou last year has been oyerflowmg with yyork and social actiyities In December under the auspices of our class the Bu k nell Glee Club gaye a yery delightful concert Next came our class party and Senior Day Needless to say it yyas the best Senior Day in the history of Old High Class Day yes the same old Class Day yyhich alyyays means one more lass leaying the portals of Old High one more class stepping from the threshold of learning into that yast unknoyyn realm yyhere experience is the teacher Four years From calloyy Freshmen to er eh Seniors Really yye haye only Q71 7 kg- if 'I' 1 .
