FHA — Really Cooking! With the heat on, as well as aprons, FHA members held weekly snack breakfasts as fund raising activities. Along with the weekly breakfasts, the club planned to sell portraits. The money earned from these fund raisers helped the club attend a convention in Phoenix in April. Demonstrations on different home econanic subjects were part of the action at the convention. There was competition from different schools around the state. When asked what she liked best about sponsoring the FHA club, Mrs. Jeanne Gillespie replied, It's fun working with the girls. They are very enthusiastic. When asked what most inspired her to bring an FHA to Williams High School, Mrs. Gillespie stated, '’Home economics is a vocational subject. It is highly recommended to have this club in all schools. A. As Sponsor Jeanne Gillespie and son, Charlie, watch, Adrienne Sanchez and Angela Valdivia sort felt scraps for a banner. B. Academic Strength: NHS Easter egg hunts and balloon launches were the main projects of National Honor Society. Also, the members did individual service projects, and the group as a whole worked to improve the community. When asked how she profited from NHS, L. Lindquist stated, It certainly is very impressive on a resume'. Most members agree that the most enjoyable part of NHS is being with their friends. J. Hansen commented that dinner at Rod's was the best part so far. On January 26, 1986 an induction ceremony was held at Rod's Steak House for the new members. M. Cox felt that NHS benefited others by teaching that kids do care. 30 NHS Clubs
