FHA — Really Cooking! With the heat on, as well as aprons, FHA members held weekly snack breakfasts as fund raising activities. Along with the weekly breakfasts, the club planned to sell portraits. The money earned from these fund raisers helped the club attend a convention in Phoenix in April. Demonstrations on different home econanic subjects were part of the action at the convention. There was competition from different schools around the state. When asked what she liked best about sponsoring the FHA club, Mrs. Jeanne Gillespie replied, It's fun working with the girls. They are very enthusiastic. When asked what most inspired her to bring an FHA to Williams High School, Mrs. Gillespie stated, '’Home economics is a vocational subject. It is highly recommended to have this club in all schools. A. As Sponsor Jeanne Gillespie and son, Charlie, watch, Adrienne Sanchez and Angela Valdivia sort felt scraps for a banner. B. FBLA Strives for Excellence; Hansen Serves as State Pres. The WHS chapter of FBLA started the year off right when 29 students signed up to join. During the previous year, Jorge Hansen and Kim German were elected to state offices, which promised to be a great plus for the Williams chapter. Local officers were also elected during the 1984-85 school year. Shawn Winchester was elected president, Lisa Baertlein as vice-president, Laura Vas-quez as secretary, Nicky DeLander as treasurer, Jorge Hansen as reporter, Kim German as parliamentarian, and Brian Bates as sergeant-at-arms. The WHS chapter of FBLA is always hard at work, if they aren't preparing for competition then they are usually attending interesting and helpful workshops. The WHS chapter also sends in many reports for competition, the members spend long hours trying to make them perfect. When members were asked why they decided to join FBLA, the most common answer was to meet other students, to go on trips, and to have a whole bunch of fun! The WHS chapter averages about four trips a year, and according to past members, they're worth the hard preparation in the many areas of business competition. Their hard-working sponsor is Mrs. Carol German. Clubs FBLA 27
