There were many students who came to the dances. Since dances are easy moneymakers, sponsoring organizations competed to request best dates. The Get Acquainted Dance, the Homecoming Dance, the Jammin' Jam-mies Dance, the Christmas Dance, and the eerie , Masquerade Ball were popular. Students came to the Masquerade Ball dressed as their favorite characters, including Mr. T , a Care Bear , a brides- maid, punkers , a saloon girl, a headless man, many preps , an old man, nurses, doctors, a squaw, a cowboy, and other characters. Chaperones were Jose and Cathy Sanchez, Rich and Suzie Hoyt, Mr. Wesson, and Mrs. Dent. Jimmy Briggs, the D.J., played music for over two hours. Tusayan yearbook staff sponsored this dance to help keep down the student’s price for an '84 yearbook. Guys, Gals, Ghouls Gather at Ball (4) Punker , M. Cox, and preppy , S.
