Williams High School Journalism Class Presents: 1970 Tusayan The 1970 TUSAYAN is the collective effort of the journalism class. Although the class functioned within a specific framework, it was the responsibility of each class member to aid the TUSAYAN in various assigned duties. Members of the journalism class who worked on the TUSAYAN were Naomi Atherton, Mildred Barnes, Sharon Brockett, Clarence Corral, Don Dent, Cathy Eve ridge, Mone Gonzalez, Teresa Gonzalez, Russ Hamilton, Barbara Hogrefe, Barbara James, Beverly Kypfer, Pam Moiser, Dillard Nelson, Dorene Nelson, John Pena, Patty Prevey, Cathy Sedillo, Marion Smith, Claudia Sutton, Gay Tissaw, Alfred Vargas, and Doug Wells. We would like to thank the merchants who purchased ads and supported the 1970 TUSAYAN. The journalism class would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Richardson for all of the help and support he gave us. A special thanks to Mr. Hooker and the photography class for school life snap shots. During the 69-70 year, all members put in their efforts to produce another annual. We, the journalism class, hope the 1970 annual will be enjoyed by all, today and in the future. Mildred Barnes, editor 1970 TUSAYAN Williams High School Williams, Arizona John Pena, Co-editor Dedication We, The Williams High School Journalism Class, wish to Dedicate the 1970 TUSAYAN to Miss Marion Higham for her many years of dedicated service to W. H. S. and its students. After her retirement from teaching, she plans to go to Escondido, California. Miss Higham first started her teaching career at Apache High School Apache, Oklahoma. Then she came to Williams and has taught at W. H. S. for 21 years. Throughout her teaching career she has sponsored The Debate Club, Thespians, and National Honor Society, and the senior class. The students of Williams High School wish her much happiness in her life of retirement, and we also give her our thanks and appreciation for the devoted services she dedicated to Williams High School. In Memory of Mrs. Geraldine Fleetwood's death on September 22, 1969, was a gTeat loss to Williams High School. She was librarian at the high school for the years 1967-1969. Before coming to Williams, she was librarian at Whitney Junior High for five years and at Nathan Hale High for two years; both are in Oklahoma. She also taught in Texas and Colorado. Star and her friend Pat Casey ( Barbara Hogrefe) discover that the property consists of a mysterious lighthouse tower on a desolated island inherited by Star's aunts Abbie (Barbara James) and Salem (Patty Prevey), her uncle Daniel Mayo (Doug Wells), who had been believed dead for forty years and the Mayo's maid, Dullie (Dorene Nelson) Peabody, and Meg Crosby (Barbara Williams). Star finds that her uncle Daniel has been living in the old tower because of a disfigurement.
