We the student body of Williams High School have undertaken to depart from the time-bound custom of dedicating our 1964 Yearbook to a concrete person or group in some way connected with our school. In the wake of the monumental events of this particular school year, the time has come for us to look beyond the world of our school. We must look to the larger world beyond—The world of universal abstractions, the abstractions that are the tour de force of civilization, the abstractions that give purpose and meaning to our lives and our education, the abstractions that spearate our human world from the jungle of the animal. Therefore we dedicate this yearbook to the abstract principles of the Judao-Christian ethic, to the abstract principles of democracy, and to the abstract principles of our American way of life. What is more important, however, than the dedication of our yearbook to these principles, is the dedication of our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor to them. Only thus will the world become a better place in which to live.
