CLASS PROPHECY Time: Mary 25, 2060 Place: Williams Cemetery Subject: Reading the tombstones of the Class of I960. Here lies Cole, Kennedy, and Matson, A cowboy they sought, Instead they got shot; They buried all three in his stetson. Here lies Lopez, Hausmann, and Runyan They took a pill That made them swill; They died the size of Paul Bunyan. Here lies Lockhead, Johnson, and Bowie Just their luck. To be hit by a truck; All over the radiator. . .gooey. They hung Asher, He was a masher. Here lies Wakefield, Sanchez, and Glassburn, In their blood streams took place, A most famous race; And a Bufferin lost to an Aspirin. Here lies Brinias, Hamberg, and Smith They died in the arms. Of a man with great charms; He sure had a powerful kith. Here lies Henderson, and Julienne Jones They saw a new diet. Decided to try it; Now all we have left is their bones. Here lies Salazar, Metheny, and Kelly, Twenty feet down. They lie in the ground; At six feet they were simply too smelly. Here lies poor Karen Packer, None of the boys didn't lack-her. Here lies Banning, Barnes, and Tipton, They started turning brown, They died on the ground; From drinking orange-pekoe by Lipton. Here lies Grantham, Canty, and Collins, After a wild ride, They lie side by side; The short-uns and the tall-uns. Here lies Miller, Lebsch, and Means A Colt 44 3 shots; no more; They blew the tops off their beans; Here lies Patterson, Mosier, and Calley They laid on their backs. Across the train tracks Were killed by the seventh street trolley. Here lies Opal Mayes, She has seen the last of her days. Here lies Mary Jones and Deanna Dean, They drank some lye They thought it was rye; At least, their insides were clean. Here lies Strickland, Torrez, and Colley, If met in an alley, Better run by galley; They're not alive; they're Ghoully. In their caskets lie Peters, Rojo, and Flohr, All covered with mold, They’re shivering with cold; Won't somebody please close the door. Here lies Wirth, Stewart, and Garcia, Serious never, Till the warden hit the lever; Their lives were just one big farce-ia. Here lies Burgess, Kielhorn, and Harp, They were cleaning their nails. When we heard the wails; That proves that the knife was too sharp. Here lies Hoffmeyer, Billings, and Lugo Drinking their beer. They had nothing to fear; That's the way they always wanted to-go.
