We were welcomed into high school by an initiation from the Sophomore class. On Halloween our class sponsored a Halloween Dance. Our class officers were elected as follows: Floyde Willett, President; Glenna Blevins, Vice-President; Buddy Garcia, Treasurer; Lucy Smith, Secretary; and Betty Hancock, Freshman Representative. The following year, forty-four Sophomores resumed classes. We had lost Betty Cochran, Jim Carouthers, Lee Hoskins, Robert Marquez, Gloria Rojo, John Ross, and John Siaz. We had gained David Carl, Kenneth Harwood, Senon Mestas, Carolina Martinez, Pat Mecham, Lawrence Royse, Lucy White, and Rose Baca. We elected officers with Carla Vance, President; Jim Miller, Vice-President; Glenna Blevins, Secretary; and . Eddie Bochat, Treasurer. Lucy Smith was our Sophomore Representative. Carla Vance was elected Cheerleader. Jimmy Miller, Buddy Garcia, Floyde Willett, and Felix Gabaldon lettered in B Squad basketball. Jim Miller also lettered in football and baseball. In '56, we returned to school as upperclassmen. We started out our year with Jim Miller, President; Pat Mecham, Vice-President; and Lee Hoskins as Secretary-Treasurer. Our class lost Edward Bochat, Rose Baca, Betty Chapman, Andrillita Candalari, David Carl, Roy Kennedy, Senon Maestas, Carolina Martinez, Charles Morris, Joe Olguin, Ar-tero Santana, Lucy Smith, Ben Trujillo, Fred Tuller, and Carla Vance. We gained Jack Dunn, John Faunsworth, Joanne Azcuenaga, Lee Hoskins, Neoma Kennedy, and Brad Page. This year, John Hayden and Floyde Willett were elected to go to Boys' State; and Glenna Blevins and Joanne Azcuenaga were elected to go to Girls’ State. Floyde Willett was elected Vice-President of the Student Council. In Drum and Bugle, Kay Grantham was selected Section leader and Jessie Chapman was selected Property secretary. Pat Mecham was elected as Cheerleader. In March, we presented our class play entitled ''That's Our Boy.” In May, we joined with the Senior class to give the Junior-Senior Prom. Pat Mecham and Lee Hoskins were chosen as attendants. During this year, several boys lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. In '57, we finally became Seniors. We came into school, a spry class. We had lost Pat Cox, John Faunsworth, Lee Hoskins, Brad Page, Sue Peckumn, and Lawrence Royse. We had gained Jerry McCamly, Ron Asher, and Jean Aikins. Our class officers were Jim Miller, President; Pat Mecham, Vice-President; John Hayden, Secretary; Glenna Blevins, Treasurer; and Albert Sanchez, Senior Representative. Mike Martin was elected as Student Council President and Kay Grantham was elected as Social Manager. Joanne Azcuenaga was chosen as D. A. R. Best Citizen. In Drum and Bugle there were two girls from the Senior class. Pat Mecham was Head Cheerleader and Jessie Chapman was a twirler. Several boys lettered in football. Jerry McCamly, Jim Miller, and Floyde Willett received All Northern Honorable mention. There were also several boys who lettered in basketball and baseball. At the beginning of the second semester, the class of '58 were lucky to be the first Senior class to move into the new high school. We were all very pleased and proud to be the first Senior class to be graduated from the beautiful new school. In March, the Senior and Junior classes combined to present the all school play called Rest Assured.” On Wednesday, May 28, thirty-one Seniors were graduated. It was a time of tears and a time of shrieks of joy. All-in-all, these were four very wonderful years, filled with many pleasant memories. I, Jean Aikins, will my ability to get along with people to Sandra Magill. I, Ronald Asher, will my little brother (Corky) to Mr. Martinez for dog food. I, Joanne Azcuenega, just leave. I, Carolina Bartlett, will to all future students, my hopeless efforts to make friends and succeeding in making enemies. I, Glenna Blevins, will my excess hair to Mr. McLain so that he can have it made into a toupee. I, Jessie Chapman, will my red hair to Karen Moore, because she needs it. I, Jack Dunn, will my cheat sheet to Beverly Allen, so that she won’t have to try and study so much. I, Felix Gabaldon, will my smile to any fellow that Pat Brinias is after. I, Buddy Garcia, will my ability to grow whiskers to Julian Corona, for all he has is peach-fuzz. I, Herminia Griego, will my ability to stay out of school four days out of five, to Miss Rigg. I, Kay Grantham, will my ability to catch a man and keep him to Pat DeVaney. I, Betty Hancock, will my shotgun and all my ducks to Miss Boyles because she didn’t get any. I, John Hayden, will my rockets to Pete Jackson and bass horn to the flute section. I, Kenneth Harwood, will my nickname of Hitler” to Lawrence Royse. I, John Jones, will my beautiful car to Pat Nelson. I, Neoma Kennedy, will my ability to take five solids and flunk all of them, to Susan Collins. I, Esther Lugo, will my ability to see flying objects at one o’clock in the morning to Mr. Martinez. I, Manuel Lugo, will my shyness to Corky Asher, maybe it will help to quiet him down. I, Jerry McCamly, will my singing ability to Boyd Chisholm, so that now he can sing. I, Mike McNelly, will my jail cell to Roger Robi-doux, in hopes that he will continue to keep it clean. I, Mike Martin, will my pink battle-wagon to John Lopez in hopes that he can pick-up all the women; it never did me any good. I, Pat Mecham, will my ability to blush to Brad Henderson. I, Jim Miller, will to Fred Hoffmeyer, No. 7. Known throughout the north by the streak of lipstick from the majestic right shoulder downward. I, Jim Pettit, will my shoes with no soles to Bobby Runyan so that he will feel at home. I, Albert Sanchez, will my magnificent height to Bill Brownd. I, Paulette Stokan, will my ability to flunk in Chemistry to anyone who wants to try it. I, Betty Strange, will to all girls, my ability to keep a secret of what I know about boys. I, Fred Tuller, will my ability to tear out clutches and transmissions to John Bolles. I, Jim Walker, will my good driving to Jimmy Massey so that he won’t get any more tickets. I, Floyde Willett, will my height to the two Pearsons (Joann and Jim) so that some day the teachers will be able to see them. I, Stanley Yoakum, will my Red Bluff credit card to Jim Runyan. Class Prophecy This is Glenna Blevins speaking, better known to the newsworld as Waltera Cornkite. The year is 1990, and a lot has happened since that fateful day when the Class of 1958 was graduated. The Russians have conquered all of Europe and all of the Western Hemisphere, save the United States and Canada. The two countries are in mortal combat, using hydrogen bombs and the like. The people are all hurrying into rocketships to leave the earth before it is blown to bits. A large rocket in Arizona is about to blast-off, let's join them and see if there is anyone aboard we know. The take-off was rather shaky, but now the people are quieting down. Over in the far corner I see Kay Grantham and her fiance quietly talking. (Yes, they are still engaged.) Sitting next to her is Kenneth Harwood, wiping the atomic fall-out off of his cowboy boots. A doctor and two nurses are mingling among the ship’s occupants, trying to soothe the frazzled nerves. Yes, now I can tell who it is. It is Dr. Jerry McCamly and his assistants, Jean Aikins and Paulette Stokan. At the moment, they are trying to help Esther Lugo and Pat Mecham with their children. I count at least ten children trying to sit on the laps of the two women. In the back of the ship, Jack Dunn and Buddy Garcia are painting pictures of the ship's blast. Near them, Manuel Lugo is jumping up and down screaming something— I can’t quite make it out—it sounds like 'Chuggy, Chuggy’??? I think he is jumping on Betty Strange's foot for she keeps turning red, white, and blue. Joanne Azcuenega is sitting on an orange crate reading Plato, while Jim Pettit is sitting by. to help her with the hard words. There are many famous people on the ship. Here comes Hermin La German. Another Marilyn Monroe. I just love her chartreuse hair. These new pastel hair shades are different anyway! Perhaps you know Miss La German better as Hermenia Griego. She has really gone far in her acting career. Just behind her, stands Mrs. Neoma Kennedy Whitecart our first woman President. It is too bad that she had to retire after only six terms. Talking to Mrs. Whitecart is Carolina Bartlett the new singing sensation of 1990. Have you heard her new record, 'Rock Around the Moon’ ? The ship's co-pilot, Albert Sanchez, is going into the control room. In here, I see Fred Tuller and Felix Gabaldon working at the radio. Fred is trying to talk to Professor John Hayden back on earth, but is having trouble since someone in Paris is trying to call Vice-President Mike McNelly in Washington. At the control panel sits such great scientists as Rom Asher, Jim Miller, Dr. John Jones and Dr. Jessie Chapman (Oh, yes, she is the First Woman Scientist of 1990) and by her, sits Dr. Stanley Yoakum. Behind them, stands Jim Walker the ship's captain. He has grown to 6’7”. WOW! Out on the ship's hull I see Betty Hancock and Mike Martin doing The Outer Space Bop. It seems some people just have to rocket and roll. Floyde Willett is out there changing the records for them. I understand that he is constructing a State highway to the moon. We wish him luck. We have landed, so this is Waltera Cornkite signing off.
