@1044 'rtyt frvuf. In the fall of '53 our class of '57 enrolled in Williams High School. We were 56 eager Freshmen. The first class meeting was held to elect officers. Dale Payne was elected President; Royce Smith, Vice President; Carol Sutton, Secretary; Howard Walker, Treasurer; Freshman Representative was Larry Bartle. The Junior High Basketball Tournament was held in Williams. Two of our class members, Dale Payne, and Eddie Garcia, were chosen on the all-tournament first string, and Delfin Sanchez all-tournament second string. We finished our year with a picnic at Oak Creek. The next year as Sophomores we were well adjusted to high school life. We elected the following officers: Irene Juarez, President; Dale Payne, Vice President; Carol Sutton, Secretary; Peter W. Gardner, Treasurer. Many of our class members participated in extracurricular activities. Most of the girls joined the Drum and Bugle Corps; with Bonnie Willsey, and Carol Sutton chosen as Twirlers. Many of the boys letteredoin Football, Basketball, and Baseball. We took our revenge on the freshmen, starting off with the initiation at the beginning of the school year. This year we lost Larry Bartle, Rosie Baca, Romona Armijo, Nora McReynolds, Walter McReynolds, Nancy Wells. We added to our class Ruth Prina. In the fall of '55 we became upperclassmen. Our class officers were Dale Payne, President; Dennis Donovan, Vice President; Peter W. Gardner, Secretary; Gerald Pena, Treasurer. Our class representative was Ned Vigil. In Drum and Bugle Corps, Bonnie Willsey, Carol Sutton, Glenda Gum, and Nancy Peckumn were chosen as Twirlers. In the spring our class presented the Junior Play entitled, The Babbling Brooks. In April we had a combined Junior-Senior Prom. The theme was Stairway to the Stars. Alice Burrage was chosen queen of the Prom and Tommy Augen-stein was chosen King. The attendants were Bonnie Willsey, and Dale Payne. Glenda Gum and Irene Juarez were Representatives to Girls' State and Dale Payne and Royce Smith went to Boys' State. Royce Smith was elected Vice President of the Student Council, and Eddie Garcia was chosen most Handsome Boy. In the fall of '56 we finally became Seniors. Our Senior class elected Dale Payne, President; Eddie Garcia, Vice President; Peggy Van Brunt, Secretary; Betty Sue Walker, Treasurer. Glenda Gum was elected Social Manager, and Irene Juarez, President of Student Council, Carol Sutton, Secretary, and Class Representative, Royce Smith. Carol Sutton, Richard Olguin, Glenda Gum, Ann Dickie, Earlene Kennedy were chosen to give their Orations. Delfin Sanchez, Royce Smith received Second Team All-Northern in football, with Alexander, Lee; Eddie Garcia; Frank Frederickson; All-Northern Honorable Mention. In November we presented Gabriel Blow Your Horn which turned out to be one of the most successful plays given.

Irene Juarez was chosen Miss Football and Nancy Peckumn, Miss Basketball. Irene Juarez was chosen most Popular girl, and Dale Payne, Most Popular boy. Royce Smith was chosen Best All Around boy; Glenda Gum All Around girl; Eddie Garcia Most Handsome boy. Glenda Gum was Majorette of the Drum and Bugle Corps. Irene Juarez was Head Cheerleader, and Nancy Peckumn, Twirler. We closed our High School at Williams with Graduation on May 24, 1957. Of the 38 Seniors who graduated this year there were 16 who attended school in Williams from the first grade through the twelfth. These 16 students are: Bonnie Willsey, Carol Sutton, Glenda Gum, Irene Juarez, Royce Smith, Dale Payne, Betty Lovitt, Parker Sutton, Eddie Garcia, David Russell, Delfin Sanchez, Peter W. Gardner, Earlene Kennedy, Henry Miller, Gerald Pena, Arthur Santana. Our Senior year we lost Linda McKee, Leroy Weis, Earlene Kennedy. We added Roberta Henscheid, Robert Henscheid, Peter E. Gardner, Ann Dickie, Henry Lee Alexander, Gloria Cox, Darell Miller. By Earlene Kennedy, Margaret Lee.
