BY CAROL SUTTON Place: Phoenix, Arizona Time: 2005, 7:15 P.M. After a hard days work at the local paper-doll factory, Eddie Garcia, and David Russell, the only two bachelors remaining of the W.H.S. class of '57, wearily climbed the last flight of stairs to their apartment in the basement of Pepsi's Massage Parlor owned by Eddie Sandoval. The two bachelors settled to their easy chairs for a nice enjoyable evening of TV. One of the bachelors was trying to tune in channel 653, while the other mixed a couple of zombies, which they had every night to make them feel better after such a long, hard days work. On this channel, the regular Friday night fights were just going on the air. This was surprising because it was only Tuesday. Anyway, tonight's fight pitted James Killer Hausmann, against Bruce Spider Thompson. They were fighting for the pro-weight championship of the world. This was surprising to the viewers, because both of these two fighters also graduated from W.H.S. in '57. The Pro-weight title had been left vacant, by Henry Tiny Miller, who could no longer make the weight. They noticed, sitting at ring side, the wives of the fighters, Betty Jo Chapman who had finally consented to marry Bruce, after four years of trying to avoid him in W.H.S. Seated with Betty Jo were Gloria Cox, Hausmann's wife and their 16 children. The fight could have been judged fairly if the referee, Delfin Sanchez had remembered to bring his glasses, but he didn't, and he thought he was judging a rock-and-roll contest, instead of a fight. The final verdict was a tie. Little did David and Eddie know that a majority of their graduating class had set their career in the entertainment field, for they changed the channel to 1012 where they were surprised to see that Glenda Gum had taken over the part of Eve Arden in Our Miss Brooks. Glenda is now a perfect resemblance of Eve Arden, since she has gained 60 pounds, and is now sporting a butch haircut. Parker Sutton had taken the part of Walter Denton, ever since he had been fired from the Arthur Godfrey show for bribing children to throw peanuts at Frank Frederickson who had taken over the part of Corny Godfrey. The Frank Frederickson (Godfrey) show was now ended and next was the $64,000 question show with Dennis Donovan as master of ceremony. The first contestant was Nancy Peckumn an old school flame of Dennis'. Nancy's category was on how to catch a horse,- in an armored car. She missed her question and was seated. Next up to try was Bonnie Willsey, testing her wits on the category, how to install a set of twin pipes on a John Deere Tractor without removing the windshield. Her knowledge of the subject permitted her to last until the second question. Carol Sutton the brain student from matrimonial college was next. Her category was on banana harvest in Alaska. But at the last minute she changed her category to habits of hyena bugs. Bonnie and Carol are next door neighbors in Phoenix. Their husbands work conveniently at home in their back yards picking oranges for the other patients at their estate on 24th and Van Buren. Their lawful wedded husbands are Dale Payne, and Darrel Miller. After the $64,000 Question program was over, Henry (Liberace) Alexander came on. He opened his program by singing You Ain't Nothing But a Hound Dog. One of the guests he had was Irene Juarez. She worked out a stunt with Ann Dickie. They were doing the Mambo, and a cheer for old Williams High. Another guest was Peggy Van Brunt. She was displaying her collection of class rings, which she had collected over the years at W.H.S. The next program was Superman, which starred Lee Strange as Superman. The plot of the story showed Superman rescuing Betty Walker, a prominent lady reporter, who was trying to snap a picture of Richard Olguin an amateur artist, standing on his head on a flag pole, trying to paint a picture of the sky. Peter E. Gardner and Peter W. Gardner who were leaders of The Hoods were trying to swipe Betty's camera for the Hoods to use in their next operation. The next program was Robin Hood, starring Robert Jackson as Robin Hood. Robin Hood was trying to show his skill with a pea shooter by trying to shoot the peas through (Little) Jon Smith's head. Marion, Robin Hoods girl friend, was played by Margaret Lee. She was busy keeping score for Robin Hood Jackson. After this program, Eddie and David paused for another zombie, with a peanut butter sandwich to top it off. They were very amazed to see that all their old buddies were on TV. As they settled down once more to watch TV, they decided to change channels again. This time to 6784. The next program was The Bucketteers, this program consisted of pirates. One of them was Captain Royce Kidd Smith their leader. He was a little man with a crooked smile, and lady's man to boot. His great ability was connected with Gerald One Eye Pena. These two had started the class prophecy in '57 and while they were sailing around in their pirated ship they worked like everything trying to finish the class prophecy for the next issue of the Tusayan. Before retiring to bed, David and Eddie decided to watch one more program, this was the Mickey Mouse Club. First off we noticed Earlene (Kayler) Kennedy coming out in her little Mickey Mouse Club hat. Then she would walk over in a corner and sing M-O-U-S-E M-l-C-K-E-Y, the reason Earlene sang it this way was because she was so tired of singing it the correct way she decided to sing it backwards. One of the guests was Arthur Santana. He would entertain the kiddies with his wild rock-and-roll ballet. His partner was Andrea Candelaria, a tiny little woman who liked to wiggle all the time. David and Eddie were about to go to bed when they saw another familiar face appear. It was that of Betty Lovitt. She was singing the Star Spangled Banner, to a tune they had never heard before. With the ending of Betty's song they chose up sides and went to bed. The Williams Vikings were strong on defense, but the Kingman bunch managed to get two TD's on two passes. Against a strong defense, the Vikings backs just couldn't get away from a 13-0 score. Williams traveled to Cottonwood for their next game. The Vikings couldn't quite get started the first half. The backfield fumbled the ball three times, all of which helped the Red Devils get 13 points. Half time score was 13-0. The Vikings came back strong in the next half to a 33-13 win. Jim Miller and Royce Smith sharing scoring honors. Williams traveled to St. Johns for their next triumph. The Vikings proved too strong for the Redskins, however the Redskins drew first blood, when they marched fifty yards for the TD. Williams came back the second quarter with two TD's. The weather wasn't at its best that night, but the game was still an exciting one. Williams came out ahead by a 27-13 score. Williams played their next game at home, with Holbrook. Both teams were pretty evenly matched until the second half came up. Holbrook slowly pulled away from the Vikings, (19-6). Gilbert came to Williams the next week, thinking they would take an easy game from the Vikings, but Williams was ready for them. Gilbert scored their only touchdowns in the first half. The Vikings with Royce Smith going 67 yards on a punt return, made things look a little brighter for the Vikings. However Williams couldn't add the extra point, so Gilbert came out ahead. (13-6.) Williams made their next trip to Seligman, where the Vikings took an easy game from the Antelopes. Henry Lee Alexander, showing his fine speed, and the fine defense of Williams downed the Seligman squad. (20-0.) Williams played their last game at home, but only to fall to Cottonwood, 7-6. Seniors who were to play their last football game, were announced to the fans: Dale Payne, Eddie Garcia, Royce Smith, Dennis Donovan, Henry Alexander, Jon Smith, Frank Frederickson, Robert Jackson, Delfin Sanchez, and Peter Gardner.
