The first class meeting was held to elect officers. Charles Halbert was elected president, Tony Juarez, vice-presidentg and Neil Gum, secretary-treasurer. The junior high basketball tournament was held in Williams. Williams took first place, and two of our class members, Robert Otero and Albert Orozco, were chosen on the All Tournament first string. The next year as sophomores we were well adjusted to high school life. We elected the following officers: Tony Juarez, president, Bobby Gaddis, vice-president, Geraldine Godwin, secretary, and Joe Lizardi, treasurer. Many students in our class participated in extra-curricular activities. Most of the girls joined the drum and bugle corps, many of the boys lettered in football, baseball, and basketball. We took our revenge on the freshmen, starting off with the initiation at the beginning of the school year. At the end of the year we had the freshman-sophomore picnic as guests of the freshmen. In the fall of '52 we became upper classmen. Our class officers were Sammy Glass- cock, president, Charles Halbert, vice-president, and Ronnie Brill, secretary-treasurer. In the spring our class presented the junior play entitled, Happy Daze . In May we had a combined Junior-Senior Prom. The theme was Carousel , Mary Melick was chosen queen of the Prom and Charles Halbert was chosen king. The attendants were Velma Berger and Neil Gum. Beth Clark and Norma Coatney were representatives to Girls' State, and Tony Juarez and Neil Gum went to Boys' State. Neil Gum was elected vice-president of the student body, and Raymond Sanchez was our class representative. Charles Halbert was chosen most handsome boy and Velma Berger was chosen prettiest girl. We ended the year by treating the seniors to a picnic at Oak Creek. In the fall of '53 we finally became seniors. Our senior class elected Sam Boyd, presi- dent, Sammy Glasscock, vice-president, and Joe Lizardi, secretary-treasurer. Beth Clark was elected social manager and Neil Gum was our class representative to the student council. Sammy Boyd received All Northern Honorable Mention in football. In November we presented The Campbells Are Coming , which turned out to be one of the successful plays given. Norma Coatney was chosen Miss Football, and Mary Melick, Miss Basketball. Beth Clark was chosen most popular girl, and Sherwin Feetham, most popular boy. Sammy Boyd was chosen Best All-Around Boy, Velma Berger, prettiest girl, and Charles Hal- bert, most handsome boy. Beth Clark was chosen D.A.R. best citizen, she also won the Williams High School oratorical contest. Mary Melick was majorette of the Drum and Bugle Corps. Velma Berger was cheer- leader, and Beth Clark was head drummer. Sammy Boyd and Tony Juarez were chosen football co-captains for the season. We closed our high school days with graduation on May 20, the following day we went to Oak Creek for our annual picnic.
