Be- hind those portals lay four years of hard work. Behind those doors lay opportunities for making new friends. Would we find joy or sad- ness Within those Walls? We soon found we were to determine that. In a short time the encouragement and little acts of kindness shown by the upperclassmen paid off, and we felt ourselves a part of everything. Books and more books! Prepara- tion of lessons took up all our time, or so we thought. Between algebra and Latin we were kept pretty busy, We had always been told that our Sophomore year would be the hard- est and how true that was! However, we still found time for ball games and other outside activities. Work? Yes, but it wasn't bad at all when it was done in the friendly atmos- phere of W. H. S. 62 your cafe U How proud we were to exhibit our most prized possession--our class ring. We had waited so long! Now we were really a part of the school. Our Junior year was one of the best. We had so much fun at the Junior Play and the Junior Talent Show. Proceeds from these paid for the biggest social function of the year- the Junior-Senior Prom. That night was just wonderful. Soft lights, beautiful music, and evening clothes combined to make this an evening which we shall never forget. In fact, the whole year was surely un- forgetable. Well, it's all over. It almost seems as if it ended before it began. We've written our last theme, conjugated our last French verb, worked that last problem in chemistry or ad- vanced algebra, and signed our last exam. Then the final whirl of excite- ment--Senior Class day and the Senior picnic! Remember how our knees shook when we walked out to get that treasured piece of paper, our diploma-the big reward of twelve years of work? Then that final march up the aisle and we sophisticated seniors fade away. Just a rumpled gown and that symbolic hat-that's all that remains, but what treasured memories they do bring! 63 REBECCA BRADLEY ED WEBSTER Queen King 64 'eng 01 if Attendants KATHERINE DISMUKE MARION LORIMER 65 H of ll In fl MARIAN LORIMER ED WEBSTER BOBBY T.
