Although a microscope was needed to Find the senior privileges, the class of '52 proved itself worthy of being the First to graduate from VValter lNI. VVilliams High School. Throughout the year members of the class took a leading part in school activities. Starting things off with a bang. the seniors seemed to agree that perhaps it's a womans world after all, as Mary Sue Bradley was elected to lead them. Vice- President Eleanor Johnson, Secretary Carrie Trol- linger and Treasurer Jeanette Oakley completed the slate of ofhcers. As the class progressed spiritedly, elections ot' superlatiyes, mascots, and junior marshals followed. November found the school spotlight focused almost entirely on seniors, 1:1-l'.Yf.' Carrie Trollinger was crowned Homecoming Queen and, escorted by Lacy Hall, reigned over a weekend of festiyity. .S'fmrm'.- Eighteen seniors were inducted into the National Honor Society. Third: As a successful football season ended, Bob lvlaeomson was chosen to play in the annual Shrine Bowl game, with our cheerleaders, all of whom are seniors, also participating in this event as North Carolinas oflicial yell squad. At the close of the first semester, as hectic midterm exams were completed, Emma Pritchett and Pat McBanc were named valedictorian and salutatorian. Ft-lxruary 0 was designated as Youth Day in Burlington with X'Villiarns High students taking charge of the city a Highlighting class activities was the presentation ol' the entertaining senior play. Then came the long- awaited night ol' the Junior-Senior Prom, after which the class ol' '52 began preparations for the last of its high school activities-WGraduation.
