March 5. 19555 To the Class of June 1953. Dear Graduates : Your theme, 4'Fairy Talesf, takes us all hack in memory to happy childhood days. The golden reHection of those days when fairy tales were very real to us lights our way through life quite as much as the more somber light we gain from our serious studies. It is not surprising that as high school seniors you should choose to look back on fascinating tales of the world of fantasy in which the prince always marries the princess and right always triumphs. Though all of us strive constantly to reach the goal of happiness. the older and wiser we become, the more we realize that no fairy godmother can wave a wand for us and make our dreams come true. Wie must work to bring the real world of daily life closer to the ideal world for which we yearn. If we at Taft have helped you to envisage a worthy. ideal world and to prepare for its realization, we have done well. May you ever enjoy your memories of the past and realize all our hopes and yours for a bright futurel Sincerely yours, lf - 1 PRINCIPAL Ka-vii' QX .-. NIR. JAMIN Host of the time Xlr. .lason can he found in his office attending to the affairs of the school. But. it st'CIl14. he can always find time to take care of the worries of the students. However. we have appreciated her as much in her capacity as Dean of Girls. during the absence of Hrs. Ascher, as in her usual function as chairman of the Nlathematics Department. We do congratulate you. Bliss Shapiro. on the wonderful joh you have done in both. Mrs. Ascher: lipon entering Taft. all freshmen immediately felt the influence of llrs. Ascher's guiding hand. She helped us adjust ourselves to the many difficulties which confronted us during our stay' in this strange new land. Now. he as seniors can do no more than give our thanks to you. llrs. XX 'R O QQ- izalrh nf Gbura NIR. Baonu: As it was when fear was struck into the hearts of the animale as they entered the awesome kingdom of the Wizard of Oz , so it was that we as freshmen feared to pass the magic circle surrounding our wizard! chamber. But through the years we have ceased to fear and have grown to love this Wizard of Ours . He has aroused the best in all of us. He has made us realize the importance of character. scholarship, and service. And so on this. our day of graduation, we are leaving our world of dependency, and entering a new one of responsibility. We hope in future years to grow in wisdom through this man's influence.
