We, who have conquered this phase, can look with scorn on those who have not yet attained the mighty title of 'lSenior.', Who can forget the first encounter with such a specimen? Each book covered, an expectant gleam in his eye, our first blind one is anxiously searching for his geometry class. Unsuspecting creature that he is, he is immediately attracted by that most treasured possession-a blue and gold hat atop a worldly wise senior. In a polite tone, Cfor his junior high school teacher has taught him the value of courtesyl he asks, mln which secret hallway can Miss X's room be found?'l Need we go into the gory details of his endless search? We will say, however, that from this day forward he knows that VVilliam lloward Taft School does not boast a fifth floor. Having encountered our first lost soul, and leaving him to the mercy of his superiors, we pick up the trail of our second wanderer. Fatigue has overcome him. The maze of classrooms has become unbearable, the cafeteria, peaceful haven, awaits him next. A wild scurry for a fable ensues, a seat is secured, and the happiest period of the day is before him, but his anticipation of tranquility is quickly changed to one of despair, for in the distance he observes-the Hlrlatf' The next step is the renewed quest for a table. This lowly fresh- man has dared to occupy a table at the back of the lunchroom, the space alloted to the seniors since . . . The third vagabond in our series, after a tremendous loss of shoe leather, has discovered-wonder of all wonders-the elevatorl Little does he know that a collection of ailments has been re- served by the eighth termers. The elevator reveals a conglomer- ation of that perennial blue and gold shouting in unison, Whores your pass? As the villain would say, Curses-foiled again? The three blind mice leave with one thought in mind. The theory of the survival of the fittest has reigned supreme. And the exalted senior illustrates supremacy ....
