AFS INTERNATIONAL CLUB. Front Row: Karyn Shatzkin, Lisa Oxley. Second Row: Katherine Maerz, Mari Jero, Mitch Rappeport, Dan Papra, Anne Brin- cle. Back Row: Ryan Bolger, Karola DeGreene, Kate Chason. The members of the International Club are the main links between the foreign exchange students and the entire Taft Student Body. They are instrumental in helping the exchange students adjust to their new surroundings. Hi, my name is Mari Jero and I am YFU's Foreign Ex- change Student from Finland. I lived in a small suburb in the border of Helsinki with five family members. I have two brothers: Mikko, who is a 14 year old school boy and Jussi, 21, who studies in Helsinki Medical University. Just as football is here, ice-hockey in my own country is a big deal. I am a member of a girls' ice-hockey team in the winter and in warm summers I bicycle a lot. My other hob- bies are painting and creative writing. I came to USA in the middle of August and l'll be going back in the middle of July, after 11 months and many good experiences. A.I-'.5.I.C. Hello, my name is Anne Brincle and l'm a Foreign Ex- change Student with Youth for Understanding this year. My home is Copenhagen which is the capital of Denmark. l'm spending a year in the United States living with an American family to learn about the American way of life and to see the country. I like to travel, see new things, talk with other people, so this is a great exper- ience for me. l would like to be a social worker later on in my life and I really think I can learn a lot about other people and how to cope with problems in the future. I really enjoy staying here and I will never forget this year.
