Senior Class History What fun it is to recall pleasant memories, and certainly there are none more precious to us, the seniors of '52, than those of our past high school days. Wvhen first we entered lVilliam Byrd in 1947 as eighth graders, the road ahead seemed endlessly long. It was hard to imagine ourselves seniors. That year Henry Plunkett, Elmer Thacker, Gladys Craft, and Faye Hairfield were our leaders. As sophomores, we elected Bobby Schuermann, Regina Boggess, hffaxine Altizer and Rhunelle Wloolfolk to the class OITICCS. Before we realized it, we had completed more than half our journey as we stepped into the role of juniors. Kenneth Shaver, Barbara Moore, Kenneth VVard, Darlene Sim- mons, and Martha Rodgers fulfilled well their duties as class officers. Wlhat a busy year it wasl Remember the fun we had presenting our class play, '4Suzy, under the direction of our sponsors, Mrs. Hood and Mrs. Clary? And we can't forget the Junior-Senior Prom and our share in the Cap and Gown ceremony and Commencement. But at last we have reached the end of our high school road, for we are seniors. How quickly the days have passed. There seemed only half as many hours in a day as there should have been. Our officers were Kenneth Shaver, Kenneth Ward, Rhunelle Wool- folk, Barbara Moore and Nancy Durham. VVhenever we think of these last few months we shall remember those highlights of the yearfpicnic, the commencement exercises, and the trip to New York. May we thank our sponsors, Miss Kelly and lWrs. Reynolds, and all those who have helped to make our senior year such a successful one. Now we begin a new journey into the future, each traveling a separate road. In our memories, the events of these happy years will always remain, and will inspire us to the fulfillment of our ambitions. l l l f 1 iii 30 ill? l 4: Q l i tb nf, K l Black Swan
