Science Today, In thus ever changing world, science plays a leading part No new maternal could be manufactured, no machine could be improved, no hygenuc advancement could be made without the and of science Whether we realize it or not, science ns the base the foundation stone upon which our whole cnvulnzatuon ns constructed This foundation must grow as our clvnluzatuon grows, or the whole structure will topple and fall into rum For most of us, our first Introduction to high school science occurred in our sophomore year, with the sublect of biology Although at the tame, the sublect probably seemed to be a waste of time to us today we see It In a different light Biology means a study of life lt offers a wealth of opportunity to the student, who may become intimately acquainted with all forms of life, both plant and ammal The real, practical value of biology ls, however, the general knowledge of hygiene which one receives lf the general prmclples of health which one receives In biology were put to universal use, the health of the whole country would be greatly benefited by nt For the student who washes to go farther un this field, our hugh school offers courses in botany, which dealswnth the study of plants, and zoology, which deals with the study of animals Both of these subgects are an excellent preparation for college work an this field lt has been sand that chemistry us the backbone of our civilization When one thinks of the great number of advancements made possrble by chemistry, one can hardly doubt that thus us the case The amazing development of plastics as only one phase In the expansion I ' I . . . . . . . u , . .
