.i , ,1x L cca C Ml al Q' 1939 Class H1stor-y linter 39' And we crash the Canary staff wxth sophomore members the flrst month It was easy to see that we were to have an actlve fun lovmg class for we entered at once into all social affaxrs and even put new tone Into the Senior dances And m our unlor year things really began to happen Life became a merry go round of splendld events There was the Prom when gay couples swayed to the llltlng strams of Bud Rader s orchestra there was Don I Ever Crow Up a comedy of adolescence packed wlth thrllls merrlment and excltement there was the tremendous and excxtlng swimming state champlonshnp We thought no year could be better But the best was yet to come the last of the school lxfe for whlch the hrst was made And appropriately enough we got under way Hear! Trouble then lt was love at Hrst sight at the Washington Shuffle then mlxlng a dash of mystery and excitement to our romances with the unter class play 320 College Avenue then dancmg all our cares and WOYYICS awav at the Qemor Hop all dynamlc successes and unforgettable memories Bethlehem for the thlrd consecutxve year In basketball a grand season even though we were nosed out of first place ln our league at the end of the season ln swlmmmg our most lmportant of several consecutive Important years 1n track a championship for the hrst time ln the hlstorx of the school ln field events lt was our own class president Frledman who threw the discus I64 feet 31 2 Inches for a new state record A series of weekly broadcasts from Mr Boyer s room on today s problems of democracy was begun by our sophs juniors and semors our A Capella Ch0lF wa acclalmed by thousands at the New York World s Falr our Canary and Blue was again rated tops at the Columbxa Press Con ventlon ln New York about IZOO students enjoyed thls year s annual P D trlp conducted by Mr Boyer to theWorld s Falr and as a grand clxmax every phase of our school life was thrown onto the screen ln technlcolor ln plctures taken by Mr Boyer As we the class of 39 are graduated from the Allentown Hxgh School ln I939 we may be proud of the fact that our class has establlshed more Firsts than any other slngle class ever graduated I urge l rfleen W I l . .
