X 4X 1936 Glass Zlalstorp The Inevitable alr of bewllderment curloslty and would be importance accompanied the entrance of the leap year Class of 36 into the beginning of days never to be forgotten From the funlovlng and not overly ambltlous very start our class was destlned to be known as a noisy u group of boys and girls but pretty good regular scouts at that Our Sophomore year consisted mamly of gettlng acquainted with the school and xts personnel Numerous councxl meetings were held under the SUDPTVISIOH of the class ofhcers l..alVlonte Cul lette presldent LaRue Brady VICC presldent Alma Albrlght secretary Harold Hlxon treasurer and the class adviser Mr Hartzel At the very end of the term we held a Sophomore plcnxc dance at Dorney Park a memorable affair lf there ever was one' It was ln our umor year however that thlngs really began to happen Llfe became a pm wheel of gala occasions the Prom where students and alumni swayed ecstatlcally to the l1lt1ng strains of Bud Rader s orchestra the class play Growing Pains a comedy of adolescence wlth the audltorlum packed to capacity the audience roarlng wrth laughter and the cast provlng lts remarkable dramatlc abllnty the basketball and swlmmmg seasons packed wlth excitement and Joy for didn t we capture the state championship tltles lh both3 And weren t many of the brllllant players and swimmers members of our class And the Canary that year brought to A H S one of the three national gold medals awarded to Hlgh School magazines by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association of New York And then the umor picnic a day of fun and merrlment closing a brilliant year All these social affalrs were held under the SUPCYVISIOH of the class ofhcers LalVlonte Gxllette pres1dent l. aRue Brady vice presldent Betty Cemmel secretary and Henry Kleppxnger treasurer But the best was yet to come Under the guxdance of Copper McFadden presldent LaRue Brady vlce president Betty Gemmel secretary and Alton Gaumer treasurer we set forth on the last lap of our hrgh school Journey with the class play Daddy Long Legs Again the swnmmlng team brought us laurels by becoming state champs and by breaking several xnterscholastlc records The basketball season was agam a huge success so far as wmnmg games was concerned although we were greatly disappointed that we were barred as lnellglble for state championship competition The mter class play Davzd Copper eld marked a new mllestone lh dramatlc achlevement The Canary agam rated Hrst place m national awards Two class trlps to New York were necessary to accommodate the large crowd of Sennor pleasure seekers Tlme that looked so long three years ago has flown The Commencement Play Semor Fare well and Commencement program have all come and gone too qulckly to su1t any of us The three years have been entxrely too short but out of them we carry unto the future the pleasantest of memories and the finest of frxends Page Thirteen v f' , K K- 4 J ' Ja A 1 .N lf' 'T-. fff , 'fflftr V ,Q gf-f ,1 L, 3- Jqfj, 'ggi wi ui gl , -ff, .
