Pwiwf DEAR GWEN: Since you couldn't come to Shirley Drewry's and Delmas DuBois's wedding anniversary party in the completely remodeled Woman's Club, I thought I would write you about it. The Cafe Society of the Cattle Capital-headed by Doris Tucker, Peggy Smith, and Dorwilla Frazee and their spouses-gave this most elegant party. It was a pot-luck affair and believe you me no one died of starvation! Edres Bryant brought two of her Sahuaro cactus pies for which she is now famous. She told me that she even has a patent on them. The orchestra was provided by Bud Flanders and his Glamour Boys-Tom McAllister, Don Cox, and Jim Baker. Bud flew out here from New York to be with his old buddy on his anniversary. The pilot of the American Airlines plane that Bud flew out on was none other than Phil Masters. The entertainment for the evening was provided by the famous Moreno dancing team who did an ex- hibition tango. The vocalist for the Glamour Boys, Jerry Harrison, sang love and Marriage . Holly- wood comedian. Bill Veck, who flew out for the occasion, was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening. There were a few regrets, it seems. One of these was the fact that Pat McCombs was in the Mrs. America Contest but was only a runner-up as she didn't have quite enough children. Janet Camp was another who couldn't be there as she is study- ing opera in Italy. Shirley Kimzey, who Ccouldn't be here eitherl, it seems, has raised a big family and it is really keeping her busy. Shirley and Johnny even had to get an old schoolbus because their station wagon got too small. Do you remember Lee Harris, the Student Body President during 1955- 56? Well, he is the present U.S. Ambassador to Russia. He is in Washington conferring with the President. O I sat next to Maggielea Etheredge and Evange- line Fielder during dinner. Maggielea said that her children are the most photographed children in the state-I wonder why??? Evangeline is now designing foundation garments. Hollywood film star, Suzanne Berry Calias our own Sue Berrymani, came in swatched mink fol- lowed by her devoted husband, Elden Gardner. Troy Neal appeared at the party with a fascinating brunette. Even Dorothy Stewart, the noted iournalist, couldn't find out who she was. Jim Hansen has apparently made scads of money from his oil wells. He sent the loveliest corsages to all the gals from Carolyn's ICOXI Flower Shop here in Willcox, and Johnny Hernandez was flitting around making sure that everyone had champagne so that a toast could be made to the happy couple. By the way, did you know that he owns the big supermarket? I noticed that the brightest faces in the staglines were those of Glen Keipe, Dave Sanchez, Jim Roberson, Jim Smith and Claire Owen. Patsy Tschirhart won the applause for being the youngest grandmother there! Well, I must close for now as we have to get the children ready for our trip home to Texas. Please write soon and tell me all about South America and let me Nknow when Howard finally gets his patent on that insecticide for killing the South American Canthocamptus Simocephalus, OK? OKI I do hope we can get down there for the holidays. Affectionately, Sleazy 26-
