Helping him were Kay Freeman, vice presi- dentg Lynne Clraighead, secretary and Martha Ayoub, treasurer. Activities brightened our work: rousing pep meetings: football and basketball games when excitement ran highg the Christmas Holly Hop given to make money for the senior promg club meetings where we chattered in a foreign tongue or learned more about our hohbiesg inspiring chapel servicesg and the prom, that night of beauty when we danced to Bali Hai. Finally came Class Day, Baccalaureate, and Commencementg then with a mixture of happiness and sadness we turned our thoughts toward the future. Under the direction of Mr. Wfilliam Lohr, athletic director, the 1958-59 intramural sports program en- deavored to promote good sportsmanship and better health and to provide a worthy way for over 700 students to spend leisure time. 'l'raditionally, girls initiated the year's sports activ- ities at Ferguson Playground with 30 Tigerettes learning the fundamentals of tennis. Climaxing the annual round robin tournament was the emergence of Kathie Yotlters as l959 champion. Mondays and Yvednesdays found the girls occupying the junior High pool as they earned senior lifesaving awards and enjoyed free swimming periods. Several evenings a week the boys took advantage of the aqua- tic facilities. XVith Tom Isherwo0d's Sparers dominating the league, bowling, XVI-lS's only co-ed sport, was held at the Casino Alleys every Monday afternoon. Over 300 students took the opportunity to play basketball as six boys' squads and I9 girls' teams were formed. Defeating Kay Robinson's Hotshots, 24-10, Kathie Yothers' 59ers won the girls' cage title. From March until May, the close of the intramural program, more than 225 Tigerettes participated in mlleyball. 102 w-5 - Wilma Keck rolls a sparc. l.lC lllilif' Chl B 0!fil'illl'0S at intmnzurfll EQIIIIIPS V 3 l'lllRD ROW: C.
