Pictured above is the Layout Design Editor of the 1980-1981 ISLANDER. She is Miss Lori Wotring. Yearbook Exercises Mind Not Body Yearbook is an activity that does not require alot of strenuous exercise but does require much mental exhaustion. One must possess a certain amount of creativity to work on the Layout De- sign Section. Much work went into this book, not only were many hours spent laying out the pages, but there were also numerous hours spent writing articles and typing them. During these hours of work and fati- que. Yearbook Editors generally use the following phrases. The first commonly used phrase is 44YES’ . The second one which is even more commonly used is “NO”. The inquisitive editor adds the statement “WHY? . The appreciative editor will sav “THANKS!”. The per- fectionist will say “DO IT OVER!”. Fi- nally, the most frequently used phrase is. of course. “NEVER MIND, I'LL DO IT MYSELF!!”. The Editors of the 1980-1981 IS- LANDER, shown above, thank the Layout Design Section for their enor- mous amount of work. Also, we would like to thank the other sections for their contributions. Mrs. Christine DelConte is pictured above. She is the Advisor of 1980-1981 Year- book Staff. In the above picture is Mr. Jeff Goodman. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the 1980-1981 ISLANDER. As a Yearbook promotion, members of the ISLANDER staff wore buttons saying “I got mine”. At first unknown to other students, these but- tons referred to yearbooks.

PEOPLE 1980-1981 THE ISLANDER Section Rings Turned “82” times (cont. from above) Finally the decisions are made and the rings are ordered. The next few months are full of anticipa- tion. At long last the rings arrive. All days, juniors honor tradition by having anyone and everyone turn their rings until they rech the magi- cal number of their graduating year. It is an exciting day for all. Junior Year Juniors at Wild- wood High School have a very difficult year. Their year is filled with dreaded term papers and of- ten an overbundance of homework. It is often a frustrating year and most ju- niors are ready to Rings Arrive in December Junior year in high school is a hectic one. Term papers, lab reports, driving examinations, prom preparations, all add to a junior’s nervous- ness and excitement. There is one event however, that almost every junior looks forward to. This is the arrival of the class rings. Prior to the day the class rings arrive, many decisions must be made. Usually in the fall, the class officers get together with several different companies. The decision of which company to go with is the first of many. The students Officers Pose Pictured above are the junior class offi- cers. They are from left to right, Jeff Goodman, president, Maureen Canning, Secretary, Susan Johnson, Vice-Presi- dent, Jeannie Gold- berg, Treasurer. then have to decide what color stone they want, what facit cut to pick, what type of metal to choose, what logo they want on the side of the ring etc. (cont. below) Analyzed quit by January. There is a big change from Sophomore to Junior year. These students become up- perclassmen and re- alize they have ony one year until they will be the leaders of the school. Most of them do not realize that they have to work their way to the top and that this will be their toughest year during their high school life. Keep working, Ju- niors, if you can make it through this year, you can make it through anything.
