1980-81 THE ISLANDER Section EDITORIAL C Mr. Motz Reflects Opinions. Interests Revealed (Cont.from above) One of Mr. Motz’s great fascinations is with trains and he also likes to visit large cities such as New York and Phila- delphia. Mr. Motz, Pictures At Left is very proud of the close student- teacher relationship at Wildwood High. He also feels that the students are very mature, and to put it in his own words, “I sometimes feel I’m not working with high school students, but with young col- lege students.” He attributes this qual- ity to the experience gained by the stu- dents while working at their summer jobs. (Cont. below) Board Secretaries Photographed Pictured above is Mrs. Dorothy Boyer, Assistant Board Sec- retary. To the left is Mr. Frank Kohlen- berger, Jr., Board Secretary and Busi- ness Administrator. Board Balances Education Most of the stu- dents have an image of the Board of Edu- cation as either an omnipotent hand which governs ever- ything that goes on in the school or as a group that meets once a month for a roll call and coffee. The truth of the matter is that the School Board is a group of adults who try to balance the quality of education, the variety of extra- curricular activities, and the condition of the facilities while staying within the budget. One only has to stop into one of the monthly Board meetings to compre- hend all that is going on and all of the re- sponsibility that these people take on. Pictured above at left is our School Board. The members standing, from left to right, are: Mr. Charles Harshaw, Mr. William Mitch- ell, Mr. Larry Sny- der, and Mr. William Davenport. The members who are sitting, from left to right, are the follow- ing: Mrs. G. Harris, Mr. H. Breslin, Mrs. B. Preston, and Mrs. B. Romeo.

Page C2 1980-81 THE ISLANDER Mr. Answini — Friend To All Although the pressures of his job sometimes get in the way, our principal is usually found talking to the students. He has greatly helped the students through his “open door policy.” This policy is to talk to any student about his or her problems. Another policy Mr. Answini contributed to this school was making it “student- oriented”. According to him when an event is to occur at WHS the student organize it as well as run it. It is continued dedica- tion to WHS that makes him a friend as well as an administer to WHS stu- dents. Assistant Principal Praised As Never Lacking A Smile Mr. Harper has gained the reputation of being a very friend- ly disciplinarian. His job is often difficult and students don’t un- derstand the many problems he faces everyday. Mr. Harper can often be seen with a smile on his face and heard saying “Hello” to everyone. Although his personality is not that of the old time disciplinarian, Mr. Harper, in our eyes, is both strict, and firm, yet friendly at the same time.
