Is what we do Along the path We’re wending. nkMk Life is like a mirror, and reflects what it sees or comes in contact with. Our lives will reflect what we see in those around us if we send out sunshine the same will radiate back to us. Secretary to the Board CHILD STUDY TEAM THE LEADERS OF OUR PATH As you look back on the past four years, you should experience a variety of emotions. The first will be one of satisfaction and relief that you have successfully completed your high school career and you are now on your way to building a future. Another may not appear immediately, but when it does, it will be one of melancholy. The excitement of your senior year and it’s many activities, the senior class trip, your close friends and graduation are all behind you. Some will even say, I wish I could do it again. Your future is dependent upon your ability to adapt to our complicated society. Hopeful- ly the time you spent at Wildwood High School will make this easier. You have become a part of Wildwood High School’s long list of graduates - Good luck as you become a member of our modern A very important year has just concluded for you. Hopefully you can look back on it with happiness and a sense of achievement. To those of you who are receiving this yearbook as a final remembrance of your sen- ior year, I wish all the best, and I hope that your experience at Wildwood High School have prepared you well for your life to come. To the other recipients of the 1980 year- book, I hope that it will recall fond memories of the year gone by and encourage fuller par- ticipation in all school areas for the years ahead. It may seem that you have come a long way and indeed you have accomplished much. But actually you have just begun and thus, your graduation from high school is a beginning, a commencement. More are starting a new phase within your lives and hopefully you will continue con- structively to apply what you have gleaned from your high school educational exper- iences to subsequent experiences. Best Wishes for a successful future. 10 THE GUIDERS OF OUR PATH Mr. Alan Sutton Mrs. June Barnes To the Class of 1980: Congratulations to you upon your gradu- ation. For some, graduation from high school will be the end of formal education; for oth- ers, it will mark the beginning of a search for greater knowledge; for all it will be a new start. May the success that has brought you this far bring you future successes. It has been a pleasure to share some of your high school years. My desire for each of you is that your lives be filled with prosperity and happiness. OUR GOVERNING BODY The 1979-1980 Student Council per- ceived in its role to express the concerns of the Student Body to the school board, the administration and the staff. As in previous years the Student Coun- cil has undertaken those activities that uphold the traditions of the Student Council. We hope that the 1979-1980 Student Council has demonstrated its represen- tative processes of good school citizen- ship and to teach democracy as a learn- ing experience to our members. John’s project won Second Place in his division in all of South Jersey in the South Jersey Craftman’s fair in May of 1979. There were some 1,000 participants in the fair which was held at the Deptford Mall. John also won the Harry Elder award from the Wildwood Builder's Association, the Goldn Hammer of Merit for outstanding achievement and a special resolution from the Mayor and Commissioners of the Borough of West Wildwood. Congratulations John for a job well done!! John McCartney and Mr. Frederick. 88 Miss Linda Frederick and her cscorl Steve Ran- som. Her entrance song was Wishing On A Song . Miss Kim Twist and her escort Dom Romeo. Her entrance song was “Wait . I As the day of Homecoming approached, Wildwood High awoke to the sound of school spirit. Ballots were being dis- tributed among the students for the election of the Home- coming Court, students were deciding what holiday they should use for their class floats, as the theme was “Holidays” and many others were carefully planning the traditional dance that was to follow the game. November 3rd, the day of Homecoming was finally upon us and much to our dismay it was raining. The football play- ers, cheerleaders and Wild- wood fans did not allow this to spoil their spirit. The Warriors played a tough game against St. James but were defeated. The much awaited Home- coming Parade was cancelled due to the weather conditions as was the crowning of the Homecoming Queen, which was postponed until Saturday night's dance. Miss Anila Gloria and her cscorl Mark Harrigan. Her entrance song was Lord Is It Mine? . - 1979 Homecoming Queen. Miss Marianne Dole and her es- cort Joe Barnes. Her entrance song was F.vcrything . 90 HOMECOMING COURT 1979 After judging the floats in nearby ga- rages, the Sophomores’ winning float was paraded around the field with its fifty foot dragon trailing it. The Sopho- more’s float depicted the holiday of “Chinese New Year”, the Freshman’s float was “Thanksgiving” and the Ju- niors chose “Christmas” as their holi- day. At the dance that night, the crowd eagerly awaited the crowning of their Queen. After the court made their tra- ditional walk to the platform, the magic moment was upon us. Miss Marianne Dole was then crowned Wildwood High’s 1979 Homecoming Queen! The crowd cheered with approval and the dance proceeded with much excite- ment! This surprise filled day did have a happy ending, despite the rain and foot- ball loss. All the teachers and students who worked against nature to make the day a success should be applauded for their dedication and for showing the people of Wildwood what the spirit of Wildwood is all about! Miss Angela Harris and her escort Birdie McNeal. Her entrance song was Forever Mine . Miss Maria Lopez and her escort Joe Fisher. Her • entrance song was Still . Miss Nicolettc Grookct and her escort Bill Dan- iels. Her entrance song was On My Honor . “Ha! Ha! Ha! You’re kidding! I won?!?! Our gracious queen. Look at those cover girl eyes! “Oh my God. Thus we laughed as wb battled them, one by one Fbr we knew we could not fail, Arid we gloried in sighting a farther one ''Close bv the end o£ the trail. Here’s a sigh for the vales and the pleasant dales, for the streams that glided thriough; Here’s a sigh for the friends whom we met enroute And a hope that they win out, too. To the end of the road with a course well run. What epitaph more could say? f That we held to the faith as we journeyed through And smiled as we won our way? HE END OF THE ROAD Now we have come to the end of the roa And the way gleams white behind. With but few dark splotches to mar its course, A few that are hard to find.
