To the Class of 1976: ' ; « : 1 i There is a price tag on human liberty. That price is the willingness to assume the responsiblity of being free men. —James Monroe Two hundred years ago our nation was plunged into a crisis of values and direction. Our founders believed that education was both the foundation and the keystone for a democratic society. In a world as complex and turbulent as our own, you are sure to face challenges as great as those of the 1770's. In this year of 1976—the 200th birth- day of our country—we hear a great deal about individual rights and freedoms. Never before have men been granted greater freedom to think, to learn, to read, to speak, and to establish and live within their chosen life style. Unfortunately, we hear less and less about the matching responsibilities which accompany our rights and freedoms. The Board of Education, the Adminis- tration, the Faculty, and the Staff of the Wildwood Public Schools have worked hard to provide you with necessary tools to I ive in a world that none of us has yet experienced, and to provide you with an opportunity to carry the Torch of Freedom with a renewed sense of hope, pride, dignity, and com- mitment. My congratulations and best wishes to each of you. D.J. Mancia, Asst. Superintendent Mr. Dominick J. Mancia Assistant Superintendent 11

The Chosen This year in the celebration of our nation's two-hundredth anniversary, we, the 1976 Freedom staff are proud to have a double dedi- cation in this year's yearbook to Mr. John Bar- bose and Mr. Stewart Hartman. In our selection of a person we looked for someone who is well liked by the students and staff at Wildwood High. This person should be dedicated to his teaching profession as well as being involved with the students themselves, This dedication could be given to no two finer men fitting the qualifications as Mr. Hartman and Mr. Barbose. We are sure that more than these few words are needed to express our gratitude to both of them for their dedication and efforts on our be- half. Congratulations, Mr. Rinky-Dink Bar- bose!! Special Thanks, Mr. Stu Hartman!! 10

For me, personally, the class of 1976 will remain in my memory with special significance. I wish you the best in the future, and I hope that your stored memories of your high school careers will give you many pleasant reflections during your lifetimes. (MLhdf' 12
