Change is threatening. We become accustomed to a pattern of life, a set of behaviors or beliefs, and look askance at anything different. Yet change” is the story of my time, as it will be of yours. The inner city, race, war, student unrest and pol- lution are problems of our society begging for pos- itive action and change.” Can you handle it? I thank the students and parents of Wildwood for a fabulous first year. NICHOLAS P. KARAMESSINIS Superintendent of Wildwood Schools MRS. O'DONNELL Secretary to the Superintendent

DOMINICK J. MANCIA Principal of Wildwood High School To the Class of 1971: The world you will inhabit in the future could be much better than the world you have known. You will now be required to make more durable commitments; your adequacy will be more immediately and impersonally measured by prac tic al performance; your areas of self-determination will be expanded; and you will need to assume new responsibility for what happens to other people. The balance between these responsibilities and the growing sense of helplessness that tempts you to leave to someone else the decisions that will cumulatively determine the future of your world is precarious. The eventual swing of that balance may depend, in no small measure, upon your appraisal and acceptance of the challenge, and how you bring to bear upon it the courage, rationality, and ingenuity that have, in the past, accounted for man’s every triumph in life. The members of the faculty and of the administration are most grateful to you for al- lowing them to have been part of your high school days. 10 Dominick J. Mancia
