Text from Pages 1 - 152 of the 1980 volume:

When we but hear the name of Wilby We will rise and pledge anew The measure of all our heart's devotion To her we will still be true We cannot refuse her when she calls us To work or play or sing We'll do our best what e'er befalls us And honor to Wilby bring 2 Then raise our voice for Wilby Let her name and her fame be known For her we stand, and now each hand For her shall be proudly shown Fair Play' is still our motto May the best man win the game And so we're proud to shout aloud THE WILBY NAME DEDICATION 4 Mr. Joseph Ciampi was born in Waterbury, CT. He attended B.W. Tinker Grammar School here in Waterbury and attended Croydon Hall Prep School in New Jersey. After graduation in 1964 he attended the Data School of IBM. In 1966 he went to work for Chase Brass as an assistant manager in the computer depart- ment. He continued on with his education during night classes at Mattatuck Community College, and in 1975 he received his A.S. in Marketing. He then took on ownership of a construction com- pany. As he was working he continued on with his education to receive his B.S. in Industrial Arts in 1978 and an M.S. in Adminis- tration Supervision in 1980. In 1978, after receiving his B.S., Mr. Ciampi came to Wilby as an Industrial Arts teacher. He also took on the responsibility of being our Junior Class Advisor and then our Senior Class Advi- sor. He showed us the meaning of class spirit and dedication. If it were not for Mr. Ciampi our Senior year would not have been as successful as it was. Mr. Ciampi now resides in Prospect with his wife Helen and their son Joey. During his spare time, Mr. Ciampi enjoys hunting and fishing in Canada. It is his ambition to become a Vice Princi- pal in the Midwest area. We wish him the best of luck. It is with our sincerest thanks that we dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Ciampi. Thank you, Mr. Ciampi! To one who cares so much, Thank you. Fred O'Brien- We pay our third tribute to Mr. O'Brien who put his Industrial Art Dept., and his teachers at the disposal of the Senior class. Many, many thanks, Mr. O'Brien you are also one who cares. 6 PRINCIPAL May I extend to each member of the class of 1980, my warmest congratulation upon reaching a milestone in your quest for an education. Wilby has prepared you well to enter upon the adven- tures of life that lie before you. As you look back on these years, you will remember the good times and difficult times. You have learned the pro- cesses by which you can make judgment and evaluations. My wish of course, is that each of you will find that place in life which is most satisfying to you. Good Luck to all of you. As the Class of 1980, you hold the distinction of being the first graduating class of the new decade. May you go forth with determination to achieve your goals and realize your full potential in society and the world community. We, the Assistant Principals, extend our thanks for your efforts and your cooperation, and wish you success in all your endeavors. 7 VICE PRINCIPALS INDUSTRIAL ARTS 8 Margaret Bannon Loretta Sweeney ART LIBRARY Mary Considine William LaValle Andrew Sirica MUSIC Patricia Dawson fV Vt Catherine Boulay Francis Brennan Bernard Dzinski George Haddad Karen Lawlor Robert Letsky ENGLISH 10 Dayle Rockwell Brian Reilly LeRoy Kleinschmidt Lucia Martone 11 William Kramer Robert Marcella Antoinette Barber Theresa Cretella Reginald O'Brien NURSE Stella Presopsky John Petro Nicholas Porcaro Anthony Gomes NURSE AID J V V Florence Torok 12 Christine Lezotte Francis Kennedy Robert Wise Michael Purcaro Dominic Moschella Kenneth Killer Frances Marcuse Vincent Minutillo SCIENCE HOME ECONOMICS Diane Barrante Mary Walsh Joann Tichon Mary Ruby 13 PHYSICAL ED. 14 Frances RooZen Valerie Stolfi Joseph Balletto Rosanne Caiozzo Debra DelCioppo Kathy Reilly Terrance Ryan Dorothy Schildgen SPECIAL SERVICE Debra Tomasello GUIDANCE Lillian Brown John Delaney Mary Hutchinson John McKenna 15 Robert Perugini James Pettit Louis Ponzillo SOCIAL STUDIES Frank Whelan Rocco Pugliese 16 SECRETARIAL STAFF Anthony Altieri VOCATION EDUCATION Francis Granato , Herbert Schilke Dolores Sirica Dawn Horgan Peggy Kalosky Delilah Henry Terry Flanagan REMEMBER WHEN? 18 19 JANET ALTMANN Jan 10 16 62 Long River Favorite Saying: Wanna play tennis?” Activities: Tennis II, III, IV, Honor Soci- ety, Calculus Club Something Special: Tennis Friends Someone Special: R.B.
