Special emphasis will be placed upon the Class of '64 because it is the most outstanding ele- ment of this total College. For the Class of '64, this year represents the quintessence of four years of academic, cul- tural and physical endeavor. Regardless of what the future portends, we, the Editors, take this opportunity to preserve part of the Senior's past for posterity. The motif of this yearbook will be MAN, a many-faceted creature, the measure of allrthings of what is and what is not A man goes through many stages on his iourney toward Maturity and Knowledge For us the Class of '64, P.M.C. has been one of them. DEDICA T10 s x l To Professor William J. Zahka for his four years of loyalty and servlce as Advisor of the Class of '64. The solutions to its problems seemed clear and you wondered how responsible people could be so oblivious to the obvious. Four years later you see a different world, you know that things are less absolute, that problems are often more complex than they appear on superficial observation. Shades of gray have developed in your approach to personal, spiritual and political thinking. You conclude that perhaps the only constant in life is change, and although you resist it, as all people do, for it is natural to fear the unknown, you begin to recognize that this is a prime ingredient to both learning and living. You came to college with idealistic thoughts, I hope you leave no less idealistic. But you are beginning to learn that some cf your beliefs will be altered by the realities of life. You now challenge the thinking of your teachers, of your parents, of the very society of which you were a part. At the same time you find yourself questioning the ideas you hold on religion, on politics, on economics, on foreign policy in fact on life itself. College has been both a tempering and a stimulating experience. Today you think more intensely, your judgements are based on more and deeper knowledge. You refuse to draw conclusions on skanty information. For some this has been a shocking experience, almost traumatic, for all it has been a maturing process. You leave P.M.C. with a much fuller understanding of life and its meaning. You accept responsibility not only for yourself but for others in an ever-changing world. For me to have had the opportunity to have some part in influencing these experiences is in itself a gratifying and rewarding. . May you continue to have the inquisitiveness, the thirst of knowledge, the sense of responsibility, the search for truth, and the willingness to face the unknown tomorrow as today. For these are the constants in your life. Si ely yo Le. ' Clarence R. Noll 9 Laurence P. Shorpies President BOARD OF TRUSTEES 4 John G. Pew, Jr vice-president OF Chalmer G. Even in defeat, Royer found tvvo bright spots in the playing of sophomore Vern Davis and senior end Joe Giampalmi. What little opportunity the Cadet fans had to cheer came when Davis was passing and Giampalmi was catching late in the game. lt's a combination that will bear watching in the future. 291 Although the oftensive attack never strongly materialized, the defense showed good teamwork. Gang tackling such as this ex- emplifies team unity. Tom Chiomento receives the pass from Vern Davis that turned out to be the only Cadet score. Faith, that rare commodity which has the power to move mountains, can also move football teams. These men never gave up, Coach Royer explained, After our first two de- feats and even after Wilkes moved ahead of us in the last period, they still had faith in themselves and in their team- mates. lt looked like a damper for the entire Homecoming weekend when Wilkes shot its fullback up the middle for a 52 yd. TD that gave the visitors a l2-6 lead early in the fourth period. But this team was not to be denied. Putting the ball in play on their own 38 after the kickoff, the Cadets marched 62 yds. in eight plays to tie the score on Heiser's 2 yd. dive, and went ahead on l-leiser's conversion. The Cadets added some insurance late in the period when end Tom Steel blocked a Wilkes punt which rolled out of the end zone for an automatic two points. Pursuit 8. Pressing the passer made this a team effort. CADETS'MISTAIfES PROVE CUSTLT AS MORA VIAN WINS 17-7 The Cadets made their first mistake when Joe Carter fumbled on his own 38. Eight plays later, Moravian was on the scoreboard. Later in the period, Carter intercepted a pass and went 49 yards for a TD, Heiser converted to tie the score. A fumble on the Cadet 29 resulted in the Greyhounds' second score and a fleld goal in the fourth period iced the game. Nick Trainer pulls to lead the interference. Joe Carter kicks his heels at his pursuers in the final burst to the goal line. ERRORS AGAIN PROVE FA TAL AS DICKINSON WINS THEIR HOMECOMING 21 13 Birch and Co. prepare to insure the permanence of the He ho I es to The Cadets had a l3-7 lead in the third period and were going for another score when Dickin- son intercepted a flat pass and went all the way. The P.A.T. made it l4-13. The Cadets gambled and lost on a fourth and three situation in the final quarter - and lost. Smoker Gallagher, the timeless enigma that lurks in the shadows of every pep rally, has here, once again, come to the fore to extol the merits and virtues of this year's team. A figure seldom seen in daylight, ex- cept at games, becomes effervescent in the evening spotlight. Smoker has to be the oldest and most faithful follower of the PMC Football team, and no season can ever properly begin without a spirited oration from this venerable sage. ' CARTER'S RU S HELP CADETS UP ET DRAGO S 10 0 Rock rides out on the wave of victory. l 0 '. A The Cadets, for the first time this season, combined a solid offense with an unyielding defense and the results were graphically revealed. Drexel, who had previously mauled four other MAC opponents, never materialized a threat on the scoreboard, The game was even more one sided than the score indicates. Joe Carter turned in a peak performance along with Frank Pelligrini and John Hamilton. Up front tackle George Stratts played his finest game and linebackers Nick Trainer, George Burke and Pete Rohana were magnificent. All in all, it was a game of heroes, all of them ours. Joe Carter breaks loose for the only touch- down of the game. Bob Gardill pivots to receive pass Carter, finally cornered, struggles for a few more inches. The world's only indoor football game, played in Atlantic City's Convention Hall, was preceeded by a two Corps tribute to the late President J. F. Kennedy. After the ceremonies were concluded, the Corps moved into the stands as King's Point won the toss. The Mariners started oft with a rush, taking the opening kick- off over in iust 12 plays. The Cadets managed to tie in the second Quarter. Leo Pel- leriti's 49 yd. quick kick landed on the enemy 4. When the Mariners tried to punt out, Larry O'Hara blocked it and Tom Steel recovered the pigskin in the End Zone. Heiser made it 7-7 with his kick. King's Point came right back with a 62 yd. drive after shifting into the shotgun. The score at half time was T4-7. The Cadets took the second half kickoff back 68 yds. on a drive highlighted by a spectacular Hamilton to Tom Chiomento pass play. A two point conversion failed. Late in the third period, the Mariners scored from mid-field for TD number three. Hope for victory remained until King's Point began a pass offensive from mid-field in the final minutes and scored with deliberation. 27-13 IN BOARDWALK BOWL C0mpIeted, Burke moves in for the kill. D UBLEJS RETRA C T10 UNA APOLOGIA POR SUO LIBRO Gentle Reader: - It hos never been my intention ot ony time during the composition of this yearbook, to discrimincite ogoinst, to slight, disporoge, or unwontingly criticize ony member, student, curriculum, policy, octivity, or minority group of this institution. Wherever I hove creoted sotire, Irony, or humor, it wos devoid of molice. It hos been my predomincite objective to hold ci mir- ror up to the college ond it mony ospects. If I hove omitted, over- looked or foiled to give full credit to ony of the obove mentioned elements, it vvcis purely on oversight on my port, not o monifes- totion of my personol preiudice. Any Humor which hos been evoked wos meont only to moke the memories contoined herein more plecisont. I moy be occused of being too esoteric, too obscure, which in some instonces per- hops moy be quite true. I hove used some symbolism which moy be too obstroct, some phroses too gnostic, some quotes too per- spicocious. I con only soy in my defense thot I hove but obeyed my Muse - the ineluctonle modolity of thought. But before you profone my lobors, first ollovv it to stcind the test of time. i fl ,Y Ko 344 att A , , w, 2- mfmi 1. I , .M MH 23:95 'fx ni B Za! .... X' '.
