TOM-TOM WICOMICO SENIOR HIGH SALISBURY, MARYLAND DEDICATION For you, o special person, we creote this book. As o teacher, advisor, and friend you have set exam¬ ples for your students to follow,- you have continu¬ ously pushed us farther on the long and winding road of education. However, most importantly, you have helped to prepare us for life. To you, Mrs. Barbara Wilsey, the Tom Tom Staff wishes to show its appreciation. You have shown us that hard work pays off. Your advice to the yearbook staff from 1973 to 1980 has been that we must work in order to succeed as a group. Your many essays and research papers have taught us how to write. The road you hove helped us to pave will always lead us back to thoughts of you. Therefore, we dedicate the 1980 Tom Tom to you, Mrs. Wilsey. TABLE OF CONTENTS FRESHMEN SOPHOMORES JUNIORS SENIORS HAPPENINGS FACULTY SPORTS CLUBS ADVERTISEMENTS 3 THE LONG AND 4 WINDING ROAD . . 5 We hove indeed traveled a long and winding road through Wi-Hi. It has been scattered with many sights and experiences. Beauty and the beast, work and play, emptiness and togetherness are just some of the things we have encountered. ' t A V One long ond winding rood come to o trogic end this yeor with the death of ex-Beatle John Lennon. But as one road ends, an¬ other begins and the members of the Senior Class are getting ready to start off in their own direc¬ tions. Lauren Dianich started down a road tak¬ en by many pretty girls at Wi Hi, that of Homecom¬ ing attendant. And though the road for the field hockey team has al¬ ways been rocky, it be¬ came a little less so as they improved their re¬ cord to 3-7. A w 1 Many of us took the day off to travel down the long, straight rood to Ocean City - and didn ' t it seem to take longer to get there than it did to come home?! And while some were taking the day off, others were travel¬ ling down the long, rough, bumpy, hazardous, tiring road to completing the year¬ book. n m A 9 Where would Wi Hi hove been on its rood to victory without its ever cheering ond supportive crowds? Though our sports teams were terrific, the yelling fans sure did odd o lot more spirit to the gomes. And while the fans chose to use their voices, some of us wonted to use other body ports to help us get on down the rood. Some soccer players used their heads, and stu¬ dents who at tended the Homecoming Donee used their feet (ond other ports of their bodies) in easing on down the rood. The rood may hove been rough, but no matter what the problem Wi Hi has always pulled through. The cheerleaders, who were a little weak in the knees always man¬ aged to find something to laugh about. And though our football team had problems of its own to tackle , we know they ' ll be out there again next year tougher than ever. The volleyball team hit most¬ ly bumps along their road but still were a tough team to beat. And with a new yearbook advisor this year, we were sure there would be some problems but Mr. Bond reas¬ sured us by saying, This job will be as easy as . . . cake . . . uh, I mean pie! Along the road we have seen many different sights. The sophomores tried to take the float competition but wound up on the other side of the street. The Senior Class clowned around this year but still turned out a good Senior Fair. One new rood of Wi Hi be¬ gan this year with the addi¬ tion of the new guidance counselor, Mr. Mumford. The road went through the hills and found a clan of Hillbillies that decided to come to Wi Hi. Kim served up a good year and Phil thought it was a big splash. The road at Wi Hi is coming to a close for some but will continue for others. But whatever the case may be, it will be one that no one will ever forget. . . . IT ALWAYS 14 LEADS YOU BACK. 15 FRESHMEN Freshman Class Officers: Trinee Dashield, Pres., Lauren Dianich, Vice- Cheering freshmen Pres.; Derh Phillips, Sec.; Karen Darker, Tres. As Freshmen, rhe first few days were somewhat frightening but we quickly adjusted to everything. We began by electing our class officers: Trinee Dashield, Pres., Lauren Dianich, Vice- Pres., Beth Phillips, Sec., Karen Barker, Treas. Our next election was for Home¬ coming Reps and we again chose Trinee Dashield and Lauren Dianich to beautifully represent us. With the help of many class members we began to construct our masterpiece float. Out theme was The Three Little Pigs and we came out on top with a first place finish. Although All-Sports Night wasn ' t as much of a success, we intend to do better next year with a little more help. We raised money this year by selling candy,. Either the Reese Cups and Krackel bars were more than good or everybody was very hungry because we sold every last piece of candy. Obviously, this fund raiser was a success. We would like to thank our class officers and sponsors for all the time and effort they put in to help us out. 17 Dovid Abborr Melinda Adams Errer Adkins Amy Adrion John Alberts John Allen Ranzie Pres., Ruth Richins, Sec We sophomores srorred rhe year wirh o small Treasury. Our first order of business was our warer balloon rhrow or rhe Senior Class Fair. The balloons really flew ond we raised over fifty dollars. Although this would hardly moke o dent in the money needed to build our float we began construction and wirh rhe help of donations, managed to place second and still hove money left over. We were beautifully represented by Debbie Gaddis and Ruth Ri- chins in the Homecoming Court. Next, we hod several soles including rhe sole of Wi-Hi ball¬ point pens. This was a large success and a bake sole added twenty more dollars to our treasury. Then come All-Sports Night. Even wirh on increase in participation we still come in fourth. But os they soy, wait until next year. Thanks go to the whole doss of ' 83 for their support and increased participation. Thanks are also in order for our excellent class officers and our wonderful class sponsors. . Who? The things that make it a dependable small-office copier also make it a dependable big-office copier. The Minolta EP 310 has two assets you won’t find on the biggest, most expensive plain paper copiers. It’s small. And it’s moderately priced. While one EP 310 is ideal as the only copier in a small office, several of them can be perfect for satellite locations in a large office. So your people can spend more lime at their desks. And less time waiting in line at a distant copy center. The EP 310 gives you consis¬ tently high copy quality from vir¬ tually any original, including books. And it copies on virtually anv kind of paper, including your letterhead. And since the EP 310 is often the only copier in a small office, Minolta had to make it depend¬ able. So we gave it an extremely short, straight paper path to make it virtually jamproof. And a self¬ diagnostic system that tells you the right thing to do if anything ever goes wrong. See the EP 310 at your Minolta copier dealer. It’s the small copier that’s as much at home in a big office as a small one. See the Minolta EP 310 at DELMARVA business prods.
